The streets were nearly empty, aside from a few vehicles I passed as I sped through the city, the street lights blurring into gold flecks at my sides. The hum of my V6 Lamborghini was the only sound for miles, low and feral, matching the fire burning through me. Every light, every shadow seemed to pulse with anticipation. The massive gates of the Hawthorne Estate came into view. I slowed only because I had to, watching the security take their sweet time opening them.
