After I heard of Avril’s passing, I always had the feeling that many thing didn’t add up. The case was closed abruptly one month after the accident — immediately after her father died, the only real family she had left.
After the accident there were rumours that no body had been found in her car; Theo’s contacts confirmed it. A body wasn’t found, and because of the explosion they couldn’t even ascertain that she’d been in the car to begin with.
A month later, the remaining members of the Montreal family held a press conference. They said a body had been found but was burnt beyond recognition; the DNA tests took weeks, they explained, and the results eventually came back positive.
We tried for years to find out more, but the case was closed, sealed, and most of the information redacted.
