Chapter Twenty
Dinner had been spectacular. Although the food had tasted great, it was even better to be sitting with her husband at the table, sharing a meal and talking. Everything felt almost normal. Sean had even helped her clean up, wash the dishes, and put the leftovers away. Not that he hadn’t before, but he was more attentive to her needs now, to everything about her.
Annie was sitting on the bed after soaking in the tub, rubbing lotion on her legs.
“I’m going to grab a shower before bed,” Sean said as he walked into the bedroom, pulling off his shirt and dumping it in the clothes hamper.
“Did I hear the phone?” Annie said. She thought she had when she’d been in the bath, and she had just assumed it was Zac or Diane checking up on them.
