It was the middle of the night, running for my life was not how I had invisioned celebrating the birth of Astrid. we should be preparing a huge ball in her honour , but instead, I'd had this tiny pup shoved into my arms and been commanded to run and to keep Astrid safe at all costs. I had no idea where we were going to go that would be safe from the rouges, but I would search out a corner of this earth where I could raise Astrid in peace, maybe form a pack to keep her sheltered and away from the rouge lycanthropes who so viciously attacked the capital tonight. with the tiny babe clutched to my chest I sprinted until I reached the boarder, I mindlinked back to my father, knowing they would need to know Astrid would be safe now and they didn't need to hold them off any longer. I'd hoped and prayed my father would retreat and keep the royals safe somewhere, grow their numbers, and then bring us home... Gregor, we shouldn't linger it isn't safe, Grace and Henry were clear in their instructions, we must move now before the babe wakes again" - hearing my wolf caution me but I didn't need reminding... Gryphon, I know my orders. You're going to have to take over and carry Astrid from here.... be f*%king gentle though or I swear we won't shift for the rest of our lives... I felt his agreement as I gently laid the babe in a basket and let Griffin take control, I knew I wouldn't have long until the rouges tour through the Royal pack and the royals alike. Gryphon gently picked up the basket and made his way over the border. I severed the link to our pack and then thought of any where I could possibly go to hide with this child. Gryphon travelled as far as he could, and as fast as he could, we only swapped when Astrid needed feeding or changing, and this went on for 4 months. Eventually, we came upon the ruins of a pack house, the land long ago deserted, and the pack no more for this world. I decided that this was as good a place as any to stop running..... the chances of any lycans coming here were exceptionally low. My only worry would be rouge wolves, but we already had a plan for that. We would offer them a home in exchange for their protection of the child as she grows. I would form a pack, one that would eventually become Astrids army. I would tell them who she was if they agreed to stay, and if not, I would simply wish them well and let them know that my door was open should they change their minds. It was a solid plan, even if it was Gryphons plan and not mine.... This was as good a place as any to keep Astrid safe and raise her to be an incredible and compassionate woman just like her mother was before the royals were over thrown.
