Chapter Eleven

(Soren’s POV)         The Cells were in the basement, we passed a gym on our way where everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at us.         “You are in here, you over there” the guard pointed to cell on the right for me and the left for Magnus.         “We are being separated? Why? We are not guilty as of yet” I tried reasoning with them but the guards were stone faced and gave no evidence of emotion. Not moving until I got an answer didn’t work for them, they shoved me into the room to the right and Magnus to the room to the left.         “Are you okay Alpha?” Magnus sounded worried.         “Yes I am fine. I didn’t expect it to go like this. I am sorry I have put you in danger as well as me. They don’t know you are my beta yet you might be able to escape punishment” the room was well lit and comfortable but that did not matter to me at this moment, I had put Magnus in danger by just being with me they suspect him guilty like me.         “Punishment? There is nothing to be punished for! Unless you know something I don’t know” I could tell he didn’t mean disrespect, after all these years Magnus was the only one I could trust.         “No I don’t know anything about what happened that day, I don’t know why they attacked. I didn’t even see my father that day” sitting on the bed I hung my head in my hands. I could only hope that the High Council wouldn’t be swayed by the Blood Moon Pack, I had to trust in the Goddess.         “We are innocent. The Blood Moon Pack will face justice and the Goddess’s wrath” Magnus stated before he severed the connection.         I could only thing of two things as I sat on the bed. I was going to the Council to get cleared of a crime that I did not commit and that I saw my mate today.         She even more beautiful than I had imagined, her eyes were hard to not look at, I had tried so hard to not get lost in their icy gaze while in front of the Alpha and Luna. She was in a guard uniform but not just any guard, she was more important than that, the uniform she was wearing was different from the guards that escorted us down here. There were guards standing behind the Luna and the Alpha wearing bullet proof vests and she was one of them, did that mean she was part of the guard specifically protecting the Alpha or the Luna?         My mate was an Alpha guard? Intense pride filled my chest, my mate was a top warrior in this pack to protect the two most important people in the pack. I didn’t know her name yet or anything about her but my heart already swelled thinking of her.         I hoped she would visit me so I could finally hear her voice and smell more of her lovely scent. Thinking of her wonderful scent had my wolf running laps in my head wanting to go to her.         “Should have marked her when we saw her in the forest” Raguel had pouting since we saw her in the hall.         “Her wolf might have been fine with it yes but her human half might have been pissed as hell, plus it would have hurt her more me being in here and possibly going to…” I trailed off, I didn’t need to finish the sentence for both of us to know where it was going.         If I had marked her and the council finds me guilty she would be in insurmountable pain when I die. I could do that to her, I am glad I didn’t listen to Raguel and mark her in the forest. Hopefully the Goddess wouldn’t gift me with such a wonderful strong mate only to have me die.         “Alpha check your room, there is a shower attached to mine and a fresh set of clothes here. If you have a shower take one, it might help take your mind off things…” Magnus was a kind and caring guy, a perfect Beta. I could only hope he wasn’t found guilty with me, that he was able to go out and find his mate. He would make a she-wolf very happy someday.         I had been so focused on my inner thoughts that I didn’t bother to look around the room, it was warm and well-lit but bare, minimalistic but it was supposed to be a cell so can’t be choosey. Just like Magnus had said there was a bathroom with a shower in it and fresh clothes laid out on the vanity next to a fluffy white towel.         Stripping out of my clothes, if you could even call them that, I got into the shower. It had been a while since I had worked a shower, let alone had one, but the handles were simple to understand, I turned the red handle as far as it would go.         The pipes gurgled for a second before hot wonderful water sprayed across my body, this was amazing. I forgot how amazing showers felt, Magnus and I had been bathing in rivers and lakes for so long that it had become normal for us.         The water that was running past my feet was brown with dirt and grime, embarrassment bloomed in my chest. I can only imagined how I smelled to all of those in the hall as well as my mate, I hope my smell wasn’t too bad, she however smelled like warm apples with brown cinnamon sugar, not a apple pie because I didn’t smell pastry just the apples and sugar. Her wolf smelled the same only with a subtle note of vanilla added.         I kept thinking of her smell analyzing every subtle difference until the water went from hot to luke warm. Looking around the shower I saw some generic soap and washed the rest of the grime off of myself, surprised by just how much had been on my body.         Getting out of the shower I toweled off, it took me a few minutes the towel sucked up the water surprisingly well. I changed into the clothes that were provided to me, a simple pair of sweatpants with cotton boxers, white cotton t-shirt, and a pair of socks, and simple pull on shoes. Nothing fancy but I was very grateful for fresh clean clothes that I didn’t have to steal.         Walking out of the bathroom I stepped on a piece of white paper folded in half. Picking it up I smelled the apple sugar smell of my mate, opening I saw her beautiful cursive writing neatly centered on the folded paper.         Tomorrow at 5:00pm. Be ready. –Annette. I finally had her name, though I would have preferred to hear her say it so I could hear her beautiful voice but that would come later. Annette… A beautiful name to go with a beautiful she-wolf, it suited her so well. Everything about her from her wolf to her smell even her hand writing suited her so well.         Tomorrow, what did she mean by tomorrow? Would I meet her tomorrow? Or would I meet the council tomorrow and she was letting me get myself prepared? Was she going to break me out? No, I wouldn’t let her risk her status in the pack by breaking me out. I had not been cleared my running would be an admission of guilt and if she ran with me she would be guilty with me. I would have to wait and see what tomorrow means. Until then I kept her note close to me letting her scent comfort me into a deep sleep.
