(Flashback Soren’s POV) ***TRIGGERING GRAPHIC CONTENT*** ***BLOOD WARNING***         Magnus was still trying to regulate his breathing when he caught up to me, we had just ran about three miles in 15 minutes. In the past couple months, I had picked up my training, my 15th birthday was in three months and Father was finally giving me an Alpha responsibility in the pack. I was going to be doing the schedules for the guards so far it was only the North Patrol but soon it would be the whole pack.         “Soren slow the f**k down!” Magnus was struggling but not as much as before.         “Magnus you better speed the f**k up if you plan on being my Beta when I become Alpha” I joked still jogging.         “You are going to make me your Beta?!” If Magnus wasn’t out of breath before he definitely was now, he gasped and that was all the air he had in his lungs. He planted his feet and bent over to catch his breath supporting himself by holding onto his knees. I stopped jogging and turned back.         “Yeah, you have been my best friend for years. There no one I trust more than you” clapping him on the back I smiled to my best friend of years.         “Who is going to be your Gamma?” he wheezed out.         “So far I don’t have anyone in mind, I was going to ask my sister but she is planning on leaving the pack when she turns 18” I had thought about my second and third in command since Father had told me I was his heir. It was time to step up, I was still technically a child but that didn’t mean I needed to act like it. I wanted Father to see that I was responsible, that the pack will be in good hands with me.         “You got time I guess” Magnus wheezed out again but less ragged than before, his breathing was getting easier. I don’t blame him for being out of shape, he had just stated battle training last week while I had been training on my own for the past couple of months.         “Come on you need to get in better shape or my Uncle is going to give you s**t for it. Trust me you do not want to be his favorite in the ring” I clapped him on the back again while he groaned.         We ran for ten more minutes before we heard a scream I will never forget, it still played through my head to this day. Magnus and I froze. What would cause someone to scream like that? The alarm was not going off so we were not being attacked so why did someone scream like that.         “Come on we have to go check it out!” I yelled to Magnus who was still frozen, with fear written across his face. Seeing he was still frozen I took off towards the scream and immediately wished that I hadn’t.         I saw a man that was torn to pieces with what I can only assume was his mate on her knees screaming with blood and tears running down her face. The man’s head was near my foot, his eyes still open in fear.         My eyes couldn’t tear away from the terrible scene until I heard growl to my left, slowly my eyes drifted over to the source of the growl. My nose knew what it was before my eyes did, the smell of wolfs bane, silver, and burning flesh. Exile. The Exiles eyes were locked onto me, not paying attention to the woman who was now just crying.         My eyes were tearing up from the smell of the Exiles brand, bile was also rising in my throat threatening to come out. However, the wolf kept slowly walking towards me, stalking me. I knew if I turned and ran he would only chase me and I would certainly die, but if I didn’t run I at least had a fighting chance. My pocket knife that was hidden in my waistband was my only hope, if I could blind him it would give me enough time to grab the woman and run to the safe house.         Just as I was about to reach for my pocket knife a huge gray wolf jumped onto the Exile, they started fighting tooth and nail. My body was frozen until it had better ideas, the bile that was threatening to rise did and I threw up on the bloody grass in front of me.         When the last of the bile left my mouth the crying woman screamed again, I didn’t know the reason of this particular scream until I saw her fall to the ground with an arrow pointing out of her chest. Another arrow whizzed by my head and I took that as a great sign to run.                      I ran towards the pack house; my father would be there near the pack house. I would find him and help him defend our pack. I couldn’t shift yet but I could still use weapons. A flash of yellow caught my eye, looking over at the flash I saw Magnus’s yellow shorts then I saw the rest of him. Magnus was on the ground with a wolf on top of him, Magnus had a stick in the wolf’s mouth keeping the wolf from biting his head off.           I looked around for anything that might be used as a weapon but the only thing in the vicinity was a stop sign. Running over to the stop sign I used my enhanced strength and kicked it over breaking the sign off. Grabbing the sign, I charged the wolf, aiming for his eye, I put all of my strength into that charge and thrust.         The sign went into the wolfs eye and he fell on top of Magnus. Pushing the wolf off Magnus I helped him up.         “Holy s**t! What the f**k is going on?!” Magnus was covered in the wolfs blood but looked other wise unharmed.         “I don’t know but we need to find my father and the other warriors and help them any way we can” Magnus nodded following me the rest of the way to the pack house.         When we got to the pack house we found nothing but bodies of wolves. Magnus and I tried to get into the pack house but the doors were barricaded shut, it was probably being used as a safe bunker.         I heard a growl and we turned around to see three wolves surrounding us, from the smell of them they were not Exiles like the last ones. The last thing I remember is them charging, me taking out my pocket knife and jabbing the wolf that tried to take off my shoulder.         I woke up briefly to see a light gray wolf taking care of the last rouge before changing back into an elderly woman.
