Caiden steps in the mouth of the cave, blocking the entrance. His jaw is hard and his hazel eyes have turned dark, into the colour of liquid death. He doesn’t say a way, yet I hear a thousand and one warnings. “She’s not going with you, you cannot just show up and take her.” Sham says “Can you all stop this?” I ask If I don't intervene, I fear that the fight that will ensue will draw blood. I climb off Tyran’s back. “I can walk on my own.” I walk past Caiden and go outside. The wind is quiet and the sky is turning bluish black. Snowflakes fall gently onto my skin. “Your shoe, it’s missing.” Tyran says I look down at my foot and shrug. “Are you sure you don’t want me to carry you?” He asks and I nod my head. “That way leads home,” he says pointing west and starts walking off.
