When I arrived at the university apartment complex, Nikki wasn't there yet. I went directly to the new student guide, who checked my information and gave me my ID and room key. I was going to share the room with a second-year student. It was the only room available, and I was the lucky one to get in. I didn't believe that, but I smiled at her anyway and said goodbye.
Alexis and Deangelo were in the car, and they carried my suitcases up to the second floor, where my new room was. They had something to do, so they quickly said goodbye to me and left me alone in front of the door, with my heart pounding and feeling very nervous. I didn't know what I was going to find inside, but I had to be brave and open the door. This was my new college life, one where I would be alone.
