Upon entering her apartment, Serafina was disoriented when she saw her doppelganger sitting on the couch. This young woman was seated with her back straight and her eyes dull and blank. The television blared in front of her, but she did not respond to it. Not quite knowing what to do, the battle-weary Rafina approached her copy and waved her hand in front of its eyes. There was no response, no flicker in those green eyes. She touched its face, startled at how her hand passed through it. “I think I know what to do,” she muttered as she got ready to sit on her empty shell. It worked.
