“W-what are you doing here, Troy?” Serafina asked, stunned at seeing the man she saw crushed in Tartarus - alive.
“I do come here from time to time,” he said, shrugging. “I’m just glad I saw you all here together. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you as a whole family.”
“Well, we managed to get through this time, Troy,” Mrs. Todd said, a slight edge on her tone. Rafina was not used to her mother acting any other way than her two modes: trophy wife or drunk. It was liberating to see her mother that way. The fact that Troy was not invited to sit down or get a seat to drag right next to them was not lost to Rafina. Her mother would have made an effort to make him feel comfortable.
Not this time. Not anymore.
