GINA Two hours after I arrive home, I find myself back in my car, driving wildly through the streets of New York, looking for my husband. I had arrived home slouched on the couch and decided to scroll through my Twitter, only for me to see a picture of Lucas on the internet, looking disheveled and drunk as hell, with the caption - LUCAS MURRAY LOSES HIS MIND JUST FEW DAYS AFTER MARRIAGE TO GEORGINA ANDERSON. The caption didn't bother me as much as the picture did. I had to zoom in the picture to find out where Lucas was and I realized he was in front of one of the bars. I immediately grabbed my car keys and drove out of the house to find him. Now, I'm driving madly through the streets, switching lanes, defying the traffic lights and overtaking as many cars as possible. When I arrive at the bar, I glance around the premises, hoping that through some miracle, Lucas would appear.....but no such thing. Sighing, I climb out of the car and walk towards the bar, grateful that there are not a lot of people outside, I walk inside the bar. I stand by the entrance at first, scanning the entire bar. My eyes trail through the length and breadth of the bar without seeing anyone who looks like Lucas. But then I finally see someone I recognize and it makes my blood boil with anger. With a certain determination in my steps, I walk towards the bald headed man seated at the corner of the booth, countless bottles of alcohol in front of him. As I move nearer to him, he raises his head and immediately recognizes me. "Where the hell is he?" I demand the moment I get to him. He smirks at me, infuriating me. "Who?" "Lucas," I snap, not in the mood for his bullshit this evening. Chris shrugs his shoulder. "I have no idea what you are talking about." "You know exactly what I mean!" I exclaim, frustrated. "Someone posted a picture of him drunk and stupid, do you know how badly this can affect his reputation?!" A look of guilt crosses Chris' face. "Someone posted a picture?" "Yes," I snap. "Now, where the hell is my husband?" "He said he was going to the bathroom," Chris answers, rising to his feet. "Let me go and check on him." I wait impatiently as Chris quickly walks in the what I believe is the direction of the bathroom. Luckily, there are not a lot of people here. Looking around, I see a couple of people staring at me but I ignore them. Instead, I turn my gaze back to the direction Chris left in. Soon enough, Chris and Lucas stumble back in with Chris' arm around Lucas. Heaving a sigh, I walk towards them, to support Lucas as they walk. As I approach them, Lucas smiles drunkenly. "Gina!" He exclaims and I roll my eyes. I grab his free arm and put it around my shoulder while wrapping my arm around his waist. "Help me get him into the car," I say to Chris, narrowing my eyes at him and daring him to refuse. He seems to understand how serious I am this time though, because he simply nods his head. "I don't want to go home!" Lucas whines like a little child and I roll my eyes again. "We are going home," I say. "No!" Lucas shouts, attracting weird looks from the people around his. I internally facepalm myself. "Yes. Now, let's go." "No!" He shouts again, stamping his feet on the floor like a child and refusing to move. "Lucas!" I whisper-yell. "What are you doing? We have to go right now!" I can feel my frustration. It's one thing to be drunk; but to be drunk in public without caring about his reputation? And then act like a little brat when I want to help him? "Lucas?" Chris calls. "You need to go home." "No!" I can't believe I'm standing in the middle of a bar with my drunk husband who's literally acting like a man-child. "We have to," Chris urges him. "Daphne is waiting for you." At his words, every iota of anger and frustration leaves my body. I stare at Chris who stares right back at me. I glance at Lucas and he's looking at me so hopefully, it makes me want to cry. "Is it true?" He slurs, his eyes glazy with tears. "Is Daphne at home?" I glance back at Chris again. Then, clearing my throat, I turn back to Lucas. "Yeah, Luc," I say, "Daphne is waiting for you at home." A drunken grin lights up his face causing an ache in my chest. "Really?! Let's go home!" "Alright then," I say, my voice breaking. As Chris and I lead Lucas out of the bar, I lower my head to the ground, tears filling my eyes. It's a struggle at first, but we are finally able to dump Lucas into the backseat of the car. Once that's done, I turn to Chris, the tears in my eyes gone and replaced with fury. "What is wrong with you?!" I demand. He opens his mouth to talk but I carry on, not giving him a chance to. He doesn't get to defend himself and infuriate me in the process. He's in the wrong here! "Why the hell would you let Lucas get so drunk?! Do you know how dangerous that is?!" "He was heartbroken and he needed my help," he tries to defend himself. I glare at him. "And getting him drunk was the only way to help him?! Are you even listening to yourself?" "How was I supposed to know that someone would take a picture? I didn't mean any harm and besides, Lucas is a man who can make his own decisions. He doesn't need you trying to rescue him twenty four seven." "You are the most disgusting man I've ever met," I snap. "And honestly, that says a lot about Lucas if he's friends with someone like you. In fact, that says a lot about your entire friend group!" With those words said, I climb into the car and slam the door shut. I start the car and drive out of the bar. By the time we arrive home, Lucas is fast asleep and snoring in the back of the car. I have to wake him up though, because there's no other way I can get him into the house. He drunkenly gets out of the car and I grab his arm to steady him. We walk to the door and I open it, leading him into the house. I guide him towards the stairs and to his room. As we climb the stairs, he asks, "Where is Daph?" I ignore him, focusing my attention on simply taking him up the stairs and to his room. We stop in front of his room and luckily, when I pushed the door open, it isn't locked this time. We walk into the room and I let go of his arm as he drops heavily on the bed. He blinks softly. "Where is Daph?" He asks again. I sigh. "I don't know, Luc. Take off your shirt," I say. When he doesn't comply, I sigh again, I move closer to him and begin to help him pull of his shirt. "I want Daphne," he says, this time, tears clouding his eyelids. I let out a sigh. He really needs to come out if this as soon as possible. "Daphne is not here," I tell him as I set the pillow behind his head properly. "Is she coming?" He asks hopefully and I shake my head. "I don't think so, Luc." "But I want Daphne!" I am alarmed to see the tears spilling over as he hiccups drunkenly. Oh God, he's crying. Lucas is crying. Somewhere at the back of my mind, I curse Daphne wherever she is. I brush his hair backwards with my fingers, feeling so hurt and yet so helpless as I watch the tears roll down his cheek. I wipe it off carefully with my fingertips but it doesn't stop rolling down. Sighing, I get into the bed with him. I put my arms around him and pull him closer to me. I use my free hand to brush his hair softly while slowly patting his back. Hopefully, he sleeps soon enough.
