Everything went to hell at once. The tear ripped wider, reality splitting like wet paper, edges curling, bleeding light that was no light at all. The things poured through—things with too many limbs, things made of gnashing teeth and endless hunger, things that shouldn’t exist in a world where sanity held sway. The air turned thick, wrong, pressing into lungs like damp cloth, tasting of copper pennies and grave dirt. The Moon’s Tear blazed against the encroaching dark, but even Mother Moon’s light faltered before the tide of nightmare surging through the corridors.
