Daisy woke to the sound of baying leopards. Not the normal baying of pack members communicating or running patrol—these were different. Desperate. Afraid. Her hand flew to the Moon's Tear as she bolted upright, its steady pulse against her throat both reassurance and warning. Something was wrong. Very wrong, Twilight agreed, the leopard's presence coiled tight with tension. Listen. Through the pre-dawn darkness, she could hear shouting now. The thunder of running feet.
