“What!.” Dylan exclaimed.
“What?.” I asked.
“Are you nut or something. Lead what way?.”
I scowled at him like he was stupid. How could be asking me what way? I mean what other way would I ask him to lead me too.
“The way to the cavern. How many times will I have to remind you of that?.”
He nodded and I just stared at him. Why the hell was he nodding his head like an agama lizard.
“You’re indeed nut. You’ve not only gone nut, you’ve gone mad too because why would you—how can you even think of us going there. Apart from the fact that the cavern is more than thirty kilometers away and there’s no way I’m gonna be having your backside sat on me like a horse, you don’t go to that area at all. I mean you wanna mess with Alpha Pete’s prisoners? Well if you know you’re ready to be one if them then of course, be my guest.”
“What the f**k are you even saying. Why did you bring me here then? Why did you tell me about this.”
“Well I was hoping you’d talk to him and maybe convince him not to go through with his plan.”
I was dumbfounded.
“Convince?. What the f**k are your even saying.” I shoved him out of my way and began walking north, I could only hope that was the direction of the caverns.
It’s almost like Dylan had turned a deaf ears to all I’d been saying about my father that day. It’s almost as if he forgot how my father treated me when we were younger because How can I be the one to convince that monster, it’s almost impossible to have a decent conversation with him. I barely stayed thirty seconds with him and I’d already sustained a fractured rib. It could have been my face!.
“Where are you going to now?.” He asked and I felt more irritated than ever. How could anyone be so stupid. I wanted to like sew his lips together just so he wouldn’t be able to talk ‘cause his voice was starting to get on my last nerves.
I ignored him and kept walking. There should be a map for this place ‘cause everywhere looked the same. Huge trees and bushes surrounded the area. There were no houses in sight yet. That wasn’t surprising considering the fact that Alpha Pete is solitary and wouldn’t like to have other wolves living few meters away from him.
Such despicable creature.
“You’re ignoring me now?.” Dylan asked.
“Yes. Until you stop asking stupid questions.”
“Stupid questions? I only asked one.”
“And you should stop talking now before you ask another and piss me off again. I really do not wanna lose my temper in here.”
He scoffed.
“Like you could do any harm with a broken rib.”
I rolled my eyes at him. It wasn’t totally true I mean I could still throw a few punches but I think I might save that for later.
“Oh and just in case you wanted to know, you’re going in the wrong direction. The road to the caverns is that way.” He pointed south and all I wanted to do was gift him those punches I was saving for later because what the f**k! We had been walking in the wrong direction for almost thirty minutes and he didn’t feel the need to save until now.
I glared at him, not hard enough for him to cower away but just enough for him to know how pissed I was and the fool replied with a shrug of his shoulders.
Someday, I’m gonna kill him for real.
******
It was really dark out with only the moonlight to illuminate the area. I was beginning to find it difficult to see but that didn’t seem like the case with Dylan. It was no surprise there, I mean we were different.
His wolf eyes were a pair of golden yellow color. I don’t know what that signifies but I do know that different eye color signifies different things. Like their rank, how much power they had and their emotions.
I suddenly remembered the silver that had flashed in my father’s eyes earlier. I wondered what that meant.
My legs were aching badly. A while ago Dylan gave me a long stick, asking me to use it as support, as my third leg. I’d slapped the back of his head for mocking me and calling me weak.
“I am anything but a weakling.” I had told him.
I asked him the same question that I’d been asking for hours.
“How close are we?.” I followed closely behind him, walking the path he had created as I could barely see anything.
“About five minutes away or so.”
“It better not be more than five minutes.” I grumbled. I winced, speaking was becoming painful all thanks to that f*****g bastard.
We got to the entrance of a cave. There were no lights or even a fire torch. It was totally dark.
“Why the f**k is this place dark.” I spat as quietly as I could and then winced at the end of my statement. I breathed slowly. Maybe it would be best if I spoke calmly at least until I get back home and receive proper treatment.
“Shhhh quiet. We would get into trouble if we’re caught. And it’s dark because some creatures held captive here have magic. Having this place lit will only make it easier for them to enchant you and have you release them. Just make sure you cover your ears when you hear someone sing. And don’t walk far away from me.”
“I can barely even see you.”
“Well you’re gonna have to open your eyes as wide as you can.” He said. As if that could help me to see better. I decided to drop it as I was already in enough pain and exchanging words with Dylan would only worsen the pain.
“Alright then. Lead the way.” I said.
“Did I just hear you agree with me without arguing first. No insults or cuss words.”
“Just shut up and lead the way.”
“Yes sure.”
And then we walked in the dark cavern.
