"No, Commander." The words came out barely above a whisper, my throat tight. He dropped the sword from my neck and relief coursed through me, but he didn't step back. The burning intensity of his eyes sent a shiver running through me. His scent was overwhelming this close, making my wolf whimper and claw at me. "You have shown me once again that you do not take this seriously,” he said coldly. I breathed hard.. I could hear it coming. He was going to expel me. But it wasn't fair. Once again, I had done nothing to deserve this. Anger began bubbling inside me, hot and sharp, cutting through my fear. "No one takes this more seriously than I do, Commander," I said, my voice gaining strength even as my hands trembled at my sides. "And I wasn't playing a game, I was being challenged."
