Chapter 10

I woke up the next morning feeling in a much lighter mood, I loved talking to Kade it turns out we do have a lot in common. People tend to underestimate us and our intelligence, we both love things that get our adrenaline pumping and living life to the fullest. Our ideas surrounding life is just different, we love being with our friends. Well, the true once and exploring new things. We work hard and both feel pressured by our parents’ successes. I got up and went by my morning routine, posted new photos and videos on my i********: and YouTube channel which is where I make more of my money from, I painted a new painting and hit the gym. I worked out until my legs started shaking and my lungs burning. By the time I looked at the clock I saw it was nearly time for Kade to come back home, he texted me throughout the day. Asking how my day was going and what I was up to, we texted back and forth. I asked him if he wanted to invite his friends over for a BBQ and of course he said yes, I wanted to meet them. I started off making my favorite dishes for a BBQ including potato dish, which is something my Nanna told me how to make and some fresh garlic bread. I prepared everything for a salad but didn’t start on it yet, it always tasted best right in front of dinner. I placed some beers into the fridge to cool, and started with the dessert. I made chocolate mousse something I saw Kade order the evening our parents took us out for dinner. I had another prank in mind since Kade loved to ruin everything with ketchup, I absolutely hated ketchup on anything, but he loved it. I stared at the bottle, and even though things were reaching a turning point in my and Kade’s relationship I wanted to keep things interesting, I did set my plan in motion. Mixing some baking soda into the ketchup and gently swirling it, keeping the cap closed shut. Not a lot of people realize this, but ketchup mostly consist of vinegar and since it contains an acetic acid and the baking soda is considered the base. So, when the two are combined the OH of the one and the H of the other to become water they release carbon dioxide and starts to look like a boiling compound. I normally use the two for cleaning to, it scrubs away any dirt left on surfaces especially in the oven. But tonight, I wanted to see if he would mess up my food with ketchup. I had everything prepared by the time Kade made it home, he once again just stood there staring at me while I cleaned up everything I already used. “Hey, how was your day?” Kade approached me slowly, smelling the air. “Good baby, and yours? Hell, this place smells incredible.” I couldn’t help the smile; he clearly loved his food. But by the way I have seen him work out I totally believed he was not eating enough to give him the energy he needed. “Thank you, and my day was perfect.” I leaned up onto my tippy toes and gave him a kiss on the cheek. It became our thing now, trying hard to make something work between us without being to intimate. He leaned to the side and gave me a kiss on the forehead, every time he did that my whole body started to feel tingling and I had no idea what was happening to me. The way he looked at me made me feel strange urges I have never felt before and an urgency I am not used to surged through me. “Are the guys coming tonight?” He gave me a small grin but looked as if something was bothering him, “yes, and just so that we are clear, you and me are married. Which makes you completely off limits to anyone. You hear?” He pointed between us and I wanted to laugh since when do we have rules? Do we have any rules, that I am not aware of? And is he jealous? Since when, hen did all of this happen. I smiled and looked up into his eyes, f**k there’s really time I wished I was f*****g taller. My neck is starting to ache looking up at him all the damn time, no wonder he is so f*****g arrogant staring down at people all day, would make anyone arrogant.” Yes, of course. Are you jealous?” His whole demeanor changed in the blink of an eye and he started to look antsy “I am going to take a shower before they come.” He started to pass me “Yes sir.” His eye pupils dilated in an instant and he bit his bottom lip as if his life depended on it. f**k, he is so damn sexy when he looks at me like that, as if I was testing every single ounce of his self-control. It made me feel empowered. And by the look in his eyes, he is contemplating cancelling tonight, throwing me over his shoulder and carrying me of to our room. But he knows I am not that easy. And he started to back paddle a little bit. Although by the smile on his face, and the promise in his eyes I knew it would just be a matter of time before I caved and let this man do with me whatever he wanted. And completely ruin me for any other man out there, making me want and need him, making me feel dependent on him. He was dangerous to my heart and I of all people knew it all too well, his smile did not fade when he turned to leave. I looked after him as he made his way up the stairs, he turned and our eyes connected. His held promise, mine held challenge. Someone will lose this battle, but it didn’t matter as long as we won the war together. I did underestimate my opponent, and even though the game changed the victory stayed the same.

All of his friends showed up and I got to meet each of them, the one more charming and handsome than the other. All the while Kade was tense and I wanted to use this to my advantage but, not in the case of his friends. That is foul play and even though I was not above playing dirty, destroying friendships so rare as his was not something I would do. Collin, I have met before, he is actually really sweet and offered me something to drink more than once, but Kade didn’t offer he just kept bringing drinks every time he would get up to grab himself one. Kevin was the strong and silent type but he had the best sense of humor. Especially after Collin told everybody about Kade’s little accident and work. Kyle was the pretty boy; you could see he was a heart throb and knew it. He was also insanely funny and every time I looked over at him, I wanted to start laughing at all off the jokes he previously told. Kendrick was a little stiff and silent in the beginning but the more he got to know me the more he relaxed, I took him as being a serious introvert even though he did not talk much he did laugh and the sound in the house filled with all of their laughter was music to my ears. I loved the sound of laughter, they all had something special and it was quite obvious why they were all friends even though they were all insanely different they were also the same and had a lot in common. They each told me an embarrassing story about Kade and the feeling of getting to know him in the eyes of others, did help soothe my feelings and views. According to them he always much more sensitive than he pretended to be, and he had a lot more on his shoulders than he cared to admit. I stayed by his side to ease his conscious and I could feel him relax a little bit, I tried to ease his mind every way I could by giving him small peck kisses on his cheek and sitting close to him. They started the BBQ and I started on the salad, Collin came in to grab each of them something to drink and offered me a drink to. I accepted “I have never seen him like this with a woman before.” I looked up at him and my eyes must hold a lot of questions. “He is real patient with you, and the way he looks at you. I have never seen him look at anyone like that before.” I just smiled before taking a sip of my beer,” I might have judged him to harshly from the get go, but I am working on it.” He returned the smile “he is insanely lucky you have someone like you in his life.” Just then Kade came walking in and he immediately came to a standstill, the kitchen counter top stood in between me and Collin and apparently it was still not enough to separate us in the eyes of my husband. “I see you are chatting up my wife.” I wanted to start laughing and Collin stood there frozen to the spot looking insanely confused for a minute until he realized Kade is jealous. “He was just telling me how you have never looked at anyone, like the way you look at me.” He turned to Collin “Hey man, it’s the truth you can’t keep your eyes off of her.” I smirked at my husband and all of the sudden he had no idea what to do. He stood there frozen, “is it true?” He cleared his throat and came to stand behind me, folding his arms around me like a protective blanket. Not taking his eyes off of his best friend. “You took to long I came to look where you both are.” Collin started to smirk “just having a conversation with my sister-in-law, you might not be blood but you are my brother.” I turned my head slightly up too see his reaction. It didn’t look like Kade believed him, “really? You’re jealous of your best friends? I am a lot of things Kade, crazy yes, loud yes, a little rough around the edges absolutely but I will never ever break up your friendships. We already had this discussion on how hard it is to find friends in our world. Not to mention I am not a disloyal or unfaithful person. That’s not who I am.” He stiffened behind me as I said disloyal what’s up with that. But he looked down into my eyes, searching for something and when he saw I spoke the truth he relaxed. I could feel him easing behind me, he then leaned down and gave me a small kiss on the head. “Okay then, how far are you?” I gave him my best smile,” just done, Collin just offered me a drink so I’ll be right on your heels. I just have to pee.” He hugged me towards him and kissed me again. They left talking and I had to pee, just as I made my way to the restroom, I noticed I started with my period. But I couldn’t find my tampons anywhere. I called Kade and he came rushing in immediately, he saw the mess. Because he turned pale, “I can’t find my tampons, have you seen them?” He turned almost green, “Uhm… I might have thrown them away as part of vengeance, when you turned me blue.” I sat there not completely knowing what to say or do, well this is a problem now isn’t it. “Well hubby, then get your ass in the car and go grab me some. Super small the pink and black box.” But he looked almost sick, “Yes, well. Paybacks a bitch.” He turned and walked away, oh boy little fucker you have no idea what you’ve just done. I left the restroom having to build a plan out of nothing. But hey I am resourceful, if he only knew what was in my prank arsenal, he wouldn’t have done that. He clearly underestimated me, I made my way down stairs like nothing happened I did however text Jenna and asked if she could drop them off for me, but she reminded me of the spare pack of panty liners in my emergency box, I used them for the meantime and her words. “Make him pay” that’s all I needed is a little bit of motivation. I walked in to the guys talking Kade brought out some of the food and I mastered my sweetest smile, knowing me for the short period of time he does he recognized the smile and he turned 50 shades of different colors. I went over got on my tip toes and sweetly kissing him on the cheek, “paybacks a b***h huh, well she’s, my twin.” I swear I could see fear in his eyes. We sat down for dinner and the guys moaned and groaned when they tasted my food. Of course, Kade brought the ketchup to ruin his meal. Even the guys told him his crazy, “I love ketchup it makes everything better.” I gave him a sweet smile as he started to shake the ketchup bottle turning it around nothing came out, but the moment he turned it upside down to see if something blocked it, the ketchup exploded. Covering him with the red sauce, everybody sat there in shock not moving an inch. Kade however wiped the ketchup from his eyes, then focusing straight on me. I sat there innocently eating my dinner pretending nothing happened. “Run!” I literally just jumped up when he tackled me from the side straight into the swimming pool. Every time I came up to take a breath he would push me down, so if he was going to drown me, I am not going down without a fight. I swam right up to him and pulled off his pants, he tried to stop me. But I was fast, I made my way towards the end of the swimming pool carrying his pants. Motherfucker, all the guys were laughing so hard I swear they might pass out due to a lack of oxygen. I then took my seat and continued my meal like nothing happened. He on the other hand came out of the pool only wearing his underwear. His hair still covered in red, nobody said a word just trying to control themselves. “You have to admit, the ketchup did fit better all over you than messing with the perfect dinner I worked really hard on.” He didn’t say a word just continued on.

After the guys left and I cleaned up, we each took our shower. But his words kept replaying in my mind. Little fucker let’s see what you’ll do about this one. I waited for him to fall asleep, I then grabbed the bottle of fake blood we use for Halloween parties. I placed it right next to my bed. He has no idea what he did. He just woken a sleeping giant.
