Chapter 15

909 Words
Kade I woke up the next day with my wife wrapped all up in my arms, we had the most incredible night. I adored her family, they were far from hillbillies. They were just incredible people including her grandfather, we spend the entire day working and having fun. We fixed some fences and unloaded some of the hay for the horses, her grandparents told me stories of how Keira grew up and how much she loves and enjoys the open and fresh air. Not to mention animals, and all the trouble she got herself into. The Ranch was incredible a whole lot of space and the barn was huge you could literally hold a wedding inside, it made me wonder if Keira would actually want to get married in a barn, I mean it was just like her. I have seen her happy at home but this was on a whole different level. She and her grandfather loved to play tricks and pranks on one another which always led to all of us laughing so hard our stomachs ached. We enjoyed the country air that evening with a bon fire and everybody telling scary stories. I didn’t have any to tell, but we enjoyed the company. Keira’s grandfather pulled out his guitar and Keira and he sang together, their voices together had my heart filled with something I couldn’t explain and every time I would stare at her from across the fire the flames would form this insanely beautiful colored halo. The fires flames danced and sometimes it gave the impression they were dancing to the music; I fell in love. With the sounds, the smells and the fresh air. The atmosphere and my heart ached knowing we had to travel back to the city. Me and Keira decided to take a walk, we discussed everything from the ranch to live back home and all the differences. I wished I could have her point of view about life and the way she saw life in such a beautiful way. Her view about people and animals, how she could see things in ways I couldn’t. Her life was filled with color and challenges, while mine was black and white filled with problems. She never gave up and kept pushing forward, she loved to have fun. Even our ideas of fun were different. But yet, here I am standing on a clear open field, seeing all the fireflies and hearing the crickets. I stared into my beautiful wife’s eyes, what started out as her saving my reputation turned into her saving my life. Turning everything upside down, every single thing I thought I knew about life was completely shattered and I wanted to be like her. I leaned down and kissed her softly, closing my eyes I could take in her scent, her taste and the feel of her body against me. I wasn’t planning on falling in love. I wasn’t planning on any of this and yet here I am, giving her absolutely everything of myself. I loved the pranks and the laughter, I loved her smile and the way her eyes lit up every time she saw me. How she’s able to look past everything else and see the person for who he or she is. I loved her, my wife, my life my everything. Way to soon it was time to head back home, I honestly did not want to leave. We said our goodbye’s and got our asses on the road. Keira offered to drive and half way through I fell asleep to her softly singing to the music. I woke up with her honking to the truck in front of us, heading straight towards us. I swear I have never screamed so hard in my life, she did not swing out just kept n driving she was laughing so hard she could barely breathe. It took me a whole two minutes of screaming and her laughing her ass off before I realized the truck in front was being towed and going in the same directions. She pulled over laughing since she could barely see the road with all of the tears streaming down her cheeks. And yes, I took over f**k this s**t. I leaned over “I’m driving get out, I’m driving” I got out of the car, but then every time I wanted to open up the door she would start pulling away. This happened four times in total before she climbed over in the passenger seat. Did I ever say I love her pranks; I could not remember because no I hate being on the receiving end of them. I did love her laughter though. She laughed all the way back home and by the time we pulled over at our place she still couldn’t stand looking at me each time she would break down laughing. We made our way into our place, I needed to get a run down for the next day’s work and she wanted to unpack so we started up. And that’s when I got the call I dreaded, the one I hoped would never come. I saw Collin’s name flash on my cellphone screen and I answered “It’s all over the news, I’m sorry man I tried to delay the inevitable. But your one-night stand is out.” My heart dropped to the floor and I could barely breathe, I am going to lose my wife.
