The Lost City

693 Words
As the sun rose over the village, Midas sat on the roof of his home, looking out over the horizon. He felt restless, as if something was calling him to adventure. Midas had never been one for exploration or adventure, but something about the new day felt different. He made up his mind that he would set out on a journey to explore the world outside of his small village. Midas packed his bag and left the village, heading towards the mountains. As he travelled, he met new people, saw new landscapes, and had new experiences. He was amazed by the diversity of the world and the different ways that people lived their lives. One day, as he was travelling through a dense forest, he came across an old map. The map was faded and tattered, but it showed the location of a long-lost city that had been rumoured to exist deep within the forest. Midas knew that he had to find the city. He felt drawn to the promise of adventure and the possibility of discovering something new and exciting. The journey to the lost city was long and arduous. Midas travelled for days, through dense forests, across rivers, and over mountains. But he persevered, driven by a sense of curiosity and the desire to discover something new. Finally, he reached the entrance to the lost city. It was hidden deep within the forest, surrounded by vines and undergrowth that had grown over the years. As he made his way through the entrance, Midas could see that the city was like nothing he had ever seen before. The buildings were tall and magnificent, made of intricate carvings and designs. The streets were paved with gold, and the people who lived in the city were dressed in fine silk and adorned with jewels. As he explored the city, Midas couldn't believe what he was seeing. He had never seen such wealth and beauty in his life. But as he explored further, he realized that something was off. The people living in the city seemed unhappy, despite their wealth and beauty. Midas decided to investigate. He spoke to the people, learning about their lives and their struggles. He discovered that the city had been cursed by the gods, who had granted them wealth and beauty but taken away their ability to feel true happiness and contentment. Midas knew that he had to break the curse and help the people of the city find true happiness. He searched through the city, looking for something that could help him break the curse. Finally, he found an ancient relic that had been hidden away for centuries. The relic was said to have the power to break the curse, but it required a great sacrifice. Midas decided that he would be the sacrifice. He knew that he had finally found something that he truly believed in - the idea that everyone, no matter how wealthy or poor, deserved to be happy. He was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to bring balance and happiness back to the city. As he performed the ritual and broke the curse, the city came alive with joy and happiness. The people welcomed Midas, grateful for his bravery and selflessness. Midas stayed in the city for a while, basking in the happiness that he had helped to bring. But he knew that he couldn't stay forever. He had to move on, to explore more of the world and discover new adventures. As he left the city, he felt a sense of purpose and belonging. He knew that his journey was far from over - there were still many adventures waiting for him on the road ahead. Midas realized that his journey had brought him something more than wealth or fame. He had found a sense of purpose and a desire to help others that he had never felt before. As he looked out over the horizon, Midas knew that there was always a new adventure waiting. But he felt an overwhelming sense of peace and satisfaction, knowing that he had helped to bring a little bit of balance and joy to the world.
