We reached the airport and checked in her bags. We walked to the departure gate and waited for her flight to be announced.
"Flight 345 to Manchester is now boarding at gate 12." A voice announced over the loudspeaker.
"That's your flight, Mary." I said and looked at her.
She nodded and took a deep breath.
We hugged each other one last time and said goodbye. She thanked me for being my best friend and said she would keep in touch with me. She told me to take care of myself and have fun at school. I wished her all the best and told her to be happy and safe. She smiled and waved at me as she boarded the plane.
