Autumn crept back through the neighbor's yard safely. When she reached the sidewalk on the other side, she unloaded the bullet that was ready to shoot in the chamber of her gun and holstered it. Then she took off at full speed toward her car, running faster than she ever had. The neighborhood was relatively empty and extremely dark, no people, no headlights. The majority of streetlights were busted out, leaving nothing but an increasing blackness. Autumn could only assume that they'd been shattered by rebellious teens, or even gangsters who didn't want to be seen at night. The thought of it froze a dagger in her chest and she willed her legs to move faster. Autumn was almost to the last block that she knew of containing dogs.
