“What do you mean, it makes sense?”
“You're not from where you run, you take way too good a care of yourself. But, judging by the way you drink, you're not used to this type of country club environment either.”
“Oh, and you can tell all of that just from the last five minutes of being around me?”
“Yep.” Alex chuckled. “Well, from that and from the way you were able to ignore and blow of Jack when he threw his body at you last night. It takes a secure woman to react the way you did. It didn't seem to bother you at all, and I admire that about you. Your reaction to him is what interested me about you. You're stronger than most women, I can tell. Then when I saw you this morning, I couldn't help but ask you out. I don't know what came over me really.”
