654 Words
The weeks leading up to Christmas had been filled with laughter, love, and the kind of magic that only Evergreen Falls could offer. The Winter Wonderland Festival was now a cherished memory, and the snow-covered town seemed to glow with holiday spirit. For Ethan, one thought consumed his mind more than any other—he was ready to ask Lila the most important question of his life. --- The Perfect Plan Ethan had spent days planning the perfect proposal. He wanted it to be special, something Lila and Sophie would remember forever. With the help of the townsfolk, he organized a small surprise in the clearing near the frozen lake, a place they had visited often since her return. He chose Christmas Eve for the occasion, knowing the magic of the holiday would only add to the moment. --- A Family Outing On Christmas Eve, Ethan suggested they take a family walk after dinner. The snow was falling gently, and the town’s twinkling lights created a warm glow in the cold winter air. Sophie, bundled up in her favorite pink coat, skipped ahead, her excitement contagious. “Where are we going, Ethan?” Lila asked, her tone curious. “You’ll see,” he replied, a mysterious smile playing on his lips. The walk led them to the clearing near the lake, where strings of fairy lights hung from the trees, casting a golden glow over the snow. A small firepit crackled in the center, surrounded by soft blankets and pillows. Lila stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening. “Ethan, what is this?” “Just a little surprise,” he said, guiding her to the blankets. --- Sophie’s Role As Lila sat down, Sophie giggled and ran over to Ethan. He whispered something in her ear, and she nodded excitedly before darting off toward a nearby tree. Lila watched, her curiosity growing. “What’s going on?” Ethan knelt beside her, taking her hands in his. “Lila, there’s something I’ve been wanting to say for a long time.” Her breath caught as she realized what was happening. --- The Proposal Ethan reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. Opening it, he revealed a delicate silver ring, the center stone sparkling like a snowflake. “Lila,” he began, his voice steady despite the emotion in his eyes. “From the moment you came back into my life, you’ve reminded me what it means to love, to hope, and to dream. You’ve brought joy and laughter into my home, and you’ve shown me the kind of future I never thought I’d have.” Tears filled Lila’s eyes as he continued. “I don’t want to spend another day without you by my side. I want us to be a family, not just in our hearts but in every way. Will you marry me?” --- A Magical Moment Before Lila could answer, Sophie reappeared, holding a small bouquet of winter flowers she had picked earlier. “Say yes, Mommy!” she exclaimed, her face glowing with excitement. Lila laughed through her tears, nodding as she looked at Ethan. “Yes, of course, I’ll marry you.” Ethan slipped the ring onto her finger before pulling her into a warm embrace. Sophie jumped into their arms, and the three of them laughed, their joy echoing through the snowy clearing. --- The Northern Lights As if on cue, the sky above them began to shimmer with hues of green and purple. The Northern Lights danced across the heavens, casting their magical glow over the family. “It’s perfect,” Lila whispered, gazing up at the lights. “Just like you,” Ethan replied, pulling her close. Sophie clapped her hands. “It’s like the sky is celebrating with us!” And in that moment, surrounded by love and light, Ethan, Lila, and Sophie knew they had found their forever.
