CHAPTER 13 A FEW MINUTES later, the descending elevator opened with a soft bell and Dr. Caroline Glyn-Griffith walked into a downstairs lobby humming with the excited flurry of activity. She was brought to an abrupt stop, facing a wall of FBI agents. Smith stared at her along with the rest. Had they called her hand so quickly? She braced for their accusations. Then it dawned on her, they were waiting for the elevator. His men would be on the stairs. It had just been a close call. With a terse expression, Smith moved to intercept her, to lead her away while his flock filed past her into the elevator. She liked his warm concern.
