Chapter 32: Partner Responsibility 2

802 Words
"If something really happens to Landis, we will never recognize you as part of the family." Xiao Sa looked at these people with a look of indifference. At a time like this, his stepmother was still concerned about the marriage agreements. Indeed, since he wasn't her real son, she felt no genuine concern for him. Xiao Sa's gentleness and good temper weren't meant for these selfish people. His gaze was cold and composed. "You should pray that Landis is fine, or else you parasites who rely on him will be left out on the streets." "You!" Ignoring the enraged Lady Rona, he headed upstairs to find Landis. Caro hurriedly followed him behind. "Mr. Xiao Sa, I must remind you that Landis has locked himself in the room, and no one is allowed to approach him. When he returned, he appeared fine. But for some reason, his condition suddenly worsened." There was another thing Caro chose not to mention. Before, he had already summoned a spiritual healer to treat Landis, but it hadn't worked. Now, the Wenser family had summoned another one. If this still didn't work, the only effective solution left would be a deep spiritual bonding with his partner. But given Landis' current condition and Xiao Sa's C-rank disabled body, going up there would be like throwing himself into the tiger's den, with a real risk to his life. There is even a risk to his life. "Thank you for the reminder." Xiao Sa nodded at him and continued up the stairs without stopping. Just as the group arrived at the door of the main suite, a disheveled figure suddenly stumbled out. To everyone's surprise, it was the spiritual healer whom Claire had summoned. His face was filled with terror, and his clothes were torn in several places, especially his chest, which bore a few claw marks. A chill went down everyone's spine. Indeed, the worst had happened. "I'm sorry, head of the family, but I really can't do anything about it!" he said before fleeing as if fleeing for his life. "You need to immediately summon the security forces to take him to the special military facility for mutated soldiers!" Caro's expression darkened. Though he was reluctant, this was indeed the protocol for senior military officers showing signs of mutation. As a high-ranking S-class officer, if Landis were to truly mutate, his lethality would be vastly greater than that of ordinary soldiers and officers. The rest of his life would be spent in the special military facility for mutated soldiers, essentially a life sentence, assuming he survived. Caro sighed, about to speak, when he suddenly met Xiao Sa's serious gaze. Xiao Sa's eyes were steady and determined, and his deep voice exuded determination: "I am Landis's companion, and I am responsible for everything about him. Without my permission, no one will take him away." As he spoke, he reached out to open the bedroom door, but it was locked from the inside. From inside the room, a restrained and painful roar came from Landis: "Caro, who told you to bring Xiao Sa?! Take him away! No one is allowed in! I order you to take him away immediately!" Xiao Sa breathed a sigh of relief that Landis was still rational. His greatest fear was that Landis would return to the berserk state from their first encounter. Caro hesitated for a moment, looking at Xiao Sa, his instincts almost compelling him to obey his superior's order: "Mr. Xiao Sa, you should probably leave for now. The captain's condition might hurt you. Dr. Sommerk will be here soon, he's a doctor that the captain trusts. There might be other ways to treat him." Xiao Sa remained unmoved, only frowning: "Landis, I'm not your subordinate; you can't give me orders. When are you going to stop making decisions for others?" When he saw he couldn't open the door, he simply punched it! To Caro's astonishment, Xiao Sa punched a hole through the solid wooden door. Xiao Sa reached inside and unlocked the door. "Landis can't hurt me; I'll make him better," Xiao Sa said calmly and stepped into the bedroom. Before closing the door, he stuck his head out: "Make sure to fix the door. Landis doesn't like people eavesdropping." With a loud bang, the door closed again. Nearby in the corridor, Carle and his stepmother, who didn't dare to approach, felt their scalps tingling at the sight. Lady Rona frowned, "For the next few days, no one is to come near this floor. Have the attendants bring meals up here every day." "Ensure the guard team is fully prepared. I hope a normal family head will come out of there. If not, we will have to prepare for the worst. It could be a monster or a pile of flesh and blood."
