Chapter 20: The Wedding Night

The wedding ceremony of General Landis finally concluded successfully under the varied expressions of the guests. After the banquet and ball, the guests began to leave one after another. Accompanied by his entourage, Prince Mo Ang, the third prince, headed to the airfield in a waiting car. Beside him sat Duke Lot, Vinci, and the healer Mr. Kate, who had just been rebuffed. Mo Ang spoke gently, “So, even Mr. Kate is unable to help General Landis?” Kate, feeling quite embarrassed, took off his ceremonial hat. “Your Highness, I apologize for overestimating my abilities. I’m afraid I can’t help, and I’m truly sorry.” Mo Ang smiled gently, “How could I blame you? However, as the commander of the Third Legion, General Landis is the pillar of the empire in the fight against the aliens. I didn’t expect his mental corruption to be so severe.” He asked with concern, “From what I observed, he showed no obvious signs of mutation. You’ve entered his mental sea; is the situation really that bad?” Normally, such a private matter regarding the mental sea shouldn’t be discussed, but since it was the third prince asking, Kate didn’t dare to be arrogant in front of royalty. After a moment of thought, he chose his words carefully. “Your Highness, based on my experience, the contamination source in a typical officer is usually easy to locate. Once the source is purified, the mental sea gradually returns to normal.” “When beastification occurs, it indicates that the contamination source is quite strong. It’s like cancer cells; it continues to spread until it consumes the entire mental sea. At that point, the person completely loses their rationality and self-awareness, becoming a beast.” “For someone who is partially beastified, at least a 2A or even 3A-level healer is needed to attempt treatment.” “However, General Landis’s mental sea has almost been entirely consumed by the contamination source…” Thinking of that desolate desert filled with bones and the sky obscured by monsters, Kate felt a shiver of fear. “A normal person in such a state would have already become a beast or even had their mental entity collapse. But General Landis, with his immense strength and unyielding willpower, has managed to remain rational and prevent the contamination from spreading. It’s truly remarkable and lives up to his title as the ‘Sword of the Empire’…” Mo Ang pondered and nodded. “In your opinion, does General Landis’s 100% compatible spouse really have a chance to heal him?” Kate hesitated, then shook his head. “To be honest, I’m not very optimistic. A C-level is too low, and there’s also the issue of mental disability. If it were an A-level or higher, there might be hope. However, if the health and lifespan of the spouse are not a concern, there might still be a chance.” Mo Ang’s steps halted, and he looked at Kate. “Are you suggesting that the General might view his spouse as merely consumable?” Kate laughed awkwardly. “Well, I didn’t exactly say that.” At the airfield, the door of a long white Phantom airship opened, slowly lowering the automatic staircase. As the group watched respectfully from below, Prince Mo Ang stood at the top, gripping the handrail as the elevator slowly rose. Once inside the airship’s cabin, Mo Ang sat down on the spacious sofa and summoned his personal guards. "How is the task I assigned you coming along?" The royal guard summoned his spiritual form—a black wide-eared bat, whose most special ability was to identify the mental energy of others. "Third Prince, I have already taken the two residual energies collected from the restroom for analysis. Besides Duke Lot’s son’s mental energy, the other mental energy is likely to be at least A-level." "Oh? So my suspicions were confirmed." Prince Mo'ang felt a sense of satisfaction as his guess was validated. Unexpectedly, the royal guard presented another report. "According to the analysis, his mental energy matches yours by 100%." "What?! " Prince Mo'ang looked up abruptly, quickly standing up from the sofa and snatching the analysis report to examine it carefully. "100%? This man named Xiao Sa actually has a 100% match with me!" "What makes him so special? What secrets does he hold? Could he be an extremely rare universal match?" At first, Prince Mo'ang was merely curious about Xiao Sa, but now he was genuinely shocked. "What a pity." Prince Mo'ang's excitement only lasted for a short while before he shook his head with a deeply regretful expression. "Too bad he got married so young..." ※※※ Wensar Estate. Tonight was Landis and Xiao Sa's first night of marriage. The attendants had prepared everything the couple would need and left the room early. Landis's bedroom was on the top floor of the main building of the estate. The deep red velvet curtains were tightly drawn, and the warm yellow bedroom light illuminated a large classical European oil painting on the wall. In the center of the room was a wide wine-red wooden four-poster bed, now adorned with a set of vibrant rose-red bedding and thoughtfully covered with a layer of fragrant rose petals. The master bedroom was spacious. Xiao Sa explored the room, finding that one door led to the bathroom and another to a walk-in closet. A seating area featuring a faux fireplace had a holographic projection of a campfire flickering inside. Next to the fireplace, on the liquor shelf, a servant had prepared iced tequila. The clear liquor shimmered with an alluring hue under the light, emitting an enticing aroma. Landis removed his military jacket and hung it on a hook. Turning around, he saw Xiao Sa pouring a glass of tequila, about to drink it. Xiao Sa wasn’t fond of drinking, but he enjoyed tequila, which smelled similar to his pheromones. Before his lips touched the glass, his hand suddenly felt empty. "Don’t drink that." Landis, who had somehow walked behind him, took the glass away and placed it aside. He then opened the warming cabinet. "What's wrong?" Xiao Sa asked with suspicion, looking at the other's actions. "There's a mood-enhancing ingredient in the wine. It's a wedding tradition, but you shouldn't drink it." Mood-enhancing? Xiao Sa was taken aback. His inexperienced mind, lacking romantic or marital experience, finally realized that tonight he was supposed to fulfill his marital duties with his new wife! What should he do? He felt a bit nervous for the first time. In school during the biology classes, the teacher explained how to mark and soothe an omega with pheromones, how to enter the reproductive cavity to breed offspring, but never covered what to do if the other person lacks glands or a reproductive cavity! As Xiao Sa spaced out, Lan Dis approached him, holding a freshly warmed cup of milk. "Drink this instead. It's a calcium-rich, strawberry-flavored milk." Xiao Sa looked down at the milk, then back at Lan Dis. "?" Lan Dis said, "It's rich in trace elements, specially for people with abnormal mental energy release. Don't drink alcohol anymore; just drink milk from now on." Xiao Sa immediately had a complicated expression. "I'm 24, not 14." The last time they met, thinking Xiao Sa was injured, Lan Dis also gave him milk. Was he still a kid who needed to grow stronger by drinking milk? "I know, you’re still young." Lan Dis chuckled softly and reached out to smooth the hair that had fallen over Xiao Sa’s forehead. "If you don’t like strawberry, we can switch to banana." Xiao Sa: "..." That’s not the point! Whether it was his imagination or not, although Lan Dis was only six years older than him, he always seemed like a generation older. Forget it, he'd indulge him. As a generous and understanding Alpha, he shouldn’t refuse his spouse’s care. The milk would help him sleep, and at least it wasn’t bitter melon soup. Xiao Sa took the cup and drank a big gulp. It tasted good, a bit sour and sweet. After Xiao Sa finished the milk, Lan Dis headed towards the bathroom. "Time to take a bath." Xiao Sa nearly choked. Was he suggesting they bathe together? His new wife was so enthusiastic and proactive, making him feel quite embarrassed. The Omegas he had known were usually reserved, shy, or sweet and delicate, needing to be cherished and doted on by Alphas. He never expected his marriage partner to be like Lan Dis. Having a strong Alpha inclination, Xiao Sa quickly adjusted his mindset. As Landis's bathroom door hadn't fully closed yet, he grabbed the doorknob and slipped in after him. A fleeting look of surprise crossed Landis's face, but he soon understood. Xiao Sa wanted to join him. A slight smile curved his lips, then faded, as he untied his necktie and asked, "Do you prefer a shower or a bath?" The master bedroom's bathroom was enormous. The walls and floor were clad in golden-hued, cracked marble. A classic candelabrum hanging on the wall projected flickering candlelight via hologram, creating a romantic atmosphere. By the floor-to-ceiling windows stood a circular hot spring tub. Behind a frosted glass partition lay a spacious shower area. Xiao Sa's gaze shifted between the two options before he said, "Shower, it’s faster." In the past, he always ended up dozing off when he took a bath, staying in until his skin wrinkled. Landis suppressed a smile and said in a low voice, "We have plenty of time tonight, so no need to rush." He turned on the shower and set the water temperature. Turning around, he saw Xiao Sa had already quickly taken off his top, leaving only a pair of white trousers. Xiao Sa had a pulse toothbrush in his mouth and was leaning against the frosted glass partition, half-closed eyes fixed on him as he brushed his teeth absentmindedly. As the hot water poured down, steam began to rise in the bathroom. The warm lights, refracted through the mist, outlined Xiao Sa's perfect physique—broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long limbs. A gentle, moist sheen played across his firm, well-defined chest, with a well-defined eight-pack. His V-line subtly extended into his pants. A young, vibrant, and vigorous body, with skin so fair it seemed to glow, without a single scar to mar the beauty. Landis's eyes darkened, his gaze lingering for a long time until Xiao Sa suddenly spoke, "Is the water too hot?" He snapped out of it and realized his hand had turned a bit red from the scalding water. He quickly adjusted the water temperature, rinsed his hand under cold water for a while, then deliberately began to undo his shirt. One wall of the bathroom was a huge floor-to-ceiling mirror. With his back to Xiao Sa, Landis unbuttoned his shirt one by one, revealing a well-proportioned, firm chest and a smooth, flowing waistline. Xiao Sa then noticed, apart from the particularly conspicuous jagged scar on his chest, there were many old wounds, now healed, leaving only faint pink traces. In theory, with the empire's medical technology, removing scars shouldn't be difficult, yet Landis chose not to erase these marks. Paired with his perpetually stern face, an overwhelming sense of intimidation washed over. Landis's deep voice cut through the silence, "I apologize, it might not look very pleasant." Xiao Sa immediately shook his head. "No." His gaze lingered fleeting in the full-length mirror, briefly meeting Landis's gaze before shifting away. So wild... Xiao Sa felt a twinge of envy. When he was younger, he had even wanted to carve a cross scar under his eye—how cool that would have been. Landis's eyes fell on the youth's ear, and he chuckled deeply. "Don't be shy, come here." Xiao Sa immediately straightened his back, frowning discontentedly. As an Alpha, how could he possibly be shy? That damned competitive instinct was acting up again. How was he supposed to pretend to be experienced during his first time living as a married couple? Xiao Sa wrapped a towel around his waist and stepped into the shower, feigning calm as he appraised Landis. With a serious look, he said, "I've seen a lot. I won't be embarrassed." Landis paused slightly, taking an inconspicuous step closer. "A lot? From before?" A wave of displeasure suddenly swelled up, like being burned by scattered embers. That was a past he hadn't been part of. Before he met Xiao Sa, had someone else stood so close, being so intimate with him? Landis's eyes darkened as he stared intently at Xiao Sa. The hot water cascaded over him, running down his throat, collarbone, and chest, disappearing into his waist. The subtle, indescribable fragrance emanating from him grew more intense in the narrow, steamy bathroom. Naturally, a young and handsome man like him wouldn't lack suitors. Not just suitors, but possibly past lovers... Xiao Sa was applying shampoo to his hair when he felt a burning gaze fixed on his back. It was hard not to notice. As he was about to ask what was going on, a warm, damp hand suddenly touched the back of his neck. Xiao Sa's eyes darkened instantly. The pheromone gland was the most sensitive and private part of an Alpha's body, not to be approached or touched by anyone except for the Omega who had been marked by them. Especially not by another Alpha. That meant aggression, violation, and danger. And at that moment, Landis's eyes held an unmistakable sense of aggression and possessiveness. Xiao Sa's instincts kicked in, his body moving before his mind could catch up. The instant the finger brushed the gland, he seized Landis's wrist, stepped forward, using his knee, and forced the other man's legs apart, pinning him against the tiled shower wall. "What are you doing?" Back pressed against the cold tiles, Landis quickly regained his composure, his voice raspy: "Sorry, I was rude." Did I forget to take my inhibitor today? It must have reminded Xiao Sa of when I forced myself on him on the warship... Landis felt a bit frustrated. What’s come over me? Xiao Sa has only just met me. Even if he had a partner before, as the older one, I should be more understanding and control myself... To his surprise, Xiao Sa was even more embarrassed. What’s the matter with me? We are already legally married, yet I almost pinned him to the wall and was about to hit him again. Didn’t I resolve to treat Landis well for the next six months? He immediately released Landis’ wrist, his gaze flickering for a moment. But it wasn’t entirely his fault. After all, an Alpha instinctively tolerates their own Omega. Landis doesn’t seem like an Omega at all; instead, he exuded the aggressiveness of an Alpha. It wasn’t easy to suppress his instincts. But as an Alpha, he shouldn’t be too petty. Xiao Sa cleared his throat and grabbed Landis’ wrist again, tilting his head to expose the side of his neck, which was flushed from the hot water: "If you want to touch, well, go ahead." Landis: "..."
