Anna

Anna looks at the unfinished pile of dishes that she has to finish and her soap soaked rubber gloves. Today is a special day at Hotel Plaza and everyone is running around like their asses on fire. Anna looks around at the grand kitchen area of the hotel and looks at the faces of everyone. Waiters are coming and going, screaming for orders, Chefs are shouting to Commis and Kitchen Porters. Even the Executive Chef is tense. He is going around the kitchen looking around and giving instructions.

Anna remembers the words of the Kitchen Manager in the morning mentioning no mistakes today. Since today is the 18th birthday of Miss Charlotte Brown the Heiress of the Plaza hotel.  Charlotte was born with a life full of luxuries and knows well for her tantrums and temper. So everyone is trying their best to make her happy and keep their job safe.

Anna’s waves of thoughts are interrupted by the loud noise made by Sophie. Who slipped and fall on the ground with all the wine glasses on her tray. For a moment kitchen became so quiet only the sound came from the steam pots and frying pans. Anna hurries to help Sophie who was looking dumbstruck at the moment. With the help, Sophie gets up quickly and breathes a relief breath seeing only one wine glass is broken. But sudden pain of her ankle causes her face ugly. 

“Oh my god, my ankle sprained. Annie helps me” Sophie exclaimed.

“This damn ankle sprained at this crucial time, screw me” Sophie was cruising herself as usual.

Anna helped her to a nearby stool and looks at her sprained ankle and hurried to get some ice to comfort her.  She signs relief seeing that the injury is minor.

At that time Mr. Gibbs, Executive Chef with a red face came to the place where Sophie sits and starts shouting at her.

“Look what you have done clumsy girl”  “We don’t have time for this silly dramas, clean this mess immediately and get your ass back to work”

Even though Sophie is a girl who has the ability to stand up for herself. She was struggling to stand up to work and to defense at the same time. There is no way she can host today with this damn leg and she knows the rule without a replacement Mr. Gibbs will make her walk-in even one leg.  She looks around for someone to help with her situation. And her eye fell on to Anna.

Anna and Sophie were first met in the interview session on the first day and they became friends from that day. Sophie was select as a Waitress because of her looks and personality. She is vibrant, Strong, easygoing and has gorgeous blond hair and light blue eyes and always has a big smile in her face. Anna is totally the opposite of Sophie she is a shy, meek and quiet girl with spectacles and braces that cover her beauty from the rest of the world. Her beautiful black hair is hiding in a messy bun and her gorgeous green eyes are hidden under the spectacles that she uses. Sophie knows that anyone who would help her out in this situation is only Anna.  Because Sophie knows Anna is a kind of girl never has the courage to say No to anyone.

When Anna came to Sophie with a bag of ice cubes she takes Anna’s hand and pleads to change the positions. Anna initially hesitates because she is easily intimidated by the customers and always struggle to speak in front of a stranger.

With the little courage, she has Anna took Sophie’s tray and fills it with champagne full of glasses and walks into the banquet hall. 

Banquets hall was completely decorated with Pink and Silver theme and in the middle of the hall stood a beautiful birthday cake decorated according to the party theme. There was a massive birthday wish banner on one wall.  Anna never saw a grand birthday party in her life and she mesmerized by the decor and the crowd.  In the center of attention, there was a beautiful girl dress in the latest fashion skin thigh golden dress and everyone was wishing her happy birthday with hugs. She is dazzling like a princess. Charlotte Brown is living a life that every girl is dreaming, including Anna. Anna who is going to be eighteen in the next month wondered if her mother remembered her birthday and will she at least get a cake for eighteen birthday. Her streams of thought disturbed when someone took a champion from her tray.  With a smile, she started ushering the guests by moving around.

Josephine Brown excused her conversation with her socialist friends and walk to the place where Charlotte is talking with her friends. She was so happy to see her daughter was in such a happy mood and giggling with her girl gang. “Darling, why not we cut the cake, everyone is waiting”. Josephine said. Charlotte looked around the hall looking for a figure she was waiting for the entire day. Without him, she has no mind to cut the cake. “Mom, let’s wait a bit.”  “I am waiting for Damian”.

Josephine got a bit upset, even though grandparents of Charlotte Brown and Damian Blackham fixed the marriage of these two when they were kids; Josephine thought Damian has no right to make her daughter wait. Even though he is the most eligible bachelor in New York.

Blackham family has been in the business for more than a century and owns more than half of the businesses in New York City. And Damian is the youngest son of Joseph Blackham who is the president of the ANC Group. At the age of twenty-three, Damian has strong knowledge about the business and an MBA from Harvard. He is the future of the ANC group. Now heading as the ANC group as a General Manager
