What the hell is going on?! How could Blake be Annabelle’s father?!
“What do you mean?! How...What?!” I stutter.
“I know this is an awkward situation, finding out your mate has a daughter. I swear when I met him, he told me he was a single wolf. And we only dated for a little while. That’s until I figured out he was a jerk behind his smoldering smile. I hope he treats you better as his mate. But you have to know that Blake doesn’t know about her. I’ve never told him.” She says, nodding her head towards Annabelle’s room.
“Neither does my family know who her father is. I was a little ashamed of getting pregnant before I had found my mate. I still haven't found him. But it doesn’t matter now, I don’t regret it. If I did, I wouldn’t have Annabelle today. She was a blessing in disguise from the Moon Goddess, and I don’t regret having her.” She says, smiling at her last statement.
“Look, I know this is coming to you as a shock. It sure did to me when I found out I was pregnant, and an even bigger shock when she got sick and I can’t help her myself. But that fling between Blake and me happened about five years-ish ago. We have no string attached since it happened. I was visiting some friends in Westmount Pack, and that's where I met him. He was quite the charmer, I don’t have to tell you this. But I really need to find him. I know he’s your mate and that you must be so confused with all of what I’m saying, But could you please help me get in touch with him? I don’t know how much longer Annabelle can survive if she doesn’t get the transplant. I’m not a match, and I need to find Blake so he can get tested.”
Five years ago… I was thirteen… She got pregnant that same year I met him.
My heart tightens at the thought of him, of everything he’s done to me and other she-wolves over the years.
He’s even got someone pregnant! Is she the only one? Could he have fathered other pups he doesn't know about?
My head suddenly starts to spin and my vision blurs.
Stretching out my hand to grab a hold of something, I try balancing myself but hit my back against the wall.
“Oh my goddess, Lana! Are you ok?” Sophie calls out, helping me stand, holding both of my shoulders steady.
“Lana!” I hear Jeremy scream from where he stood further in the corridor.
In only two seconds, he turned me around to face him.
“What’s going on? What happened?! Where are you hurting? Should I call for a doctor?” He yells, spitting out questions after questions, looking at Sophie with murderous eyes.
“What the f**k did you do to her?” He swore, spitting a little.
“I didn’t do anything! I only asked for her help. I didn’t mean for her to fall ill!” She screams back, her voice trembling.
“Well, you must have done something other than asking her a question. She was fine before you two talked, and now look at her! She can barely stand!” He spat.
Grabbing his arms with all the strength I can muster up, he turns his head towards me, his attention in full alert.
“She...She…” I mumbled, struggling to get my words out.
“What did she do? I knew she did something!” He says, about to let go of me and go all big bad wolf on Sophie, making her step back a few feet.
Shaking my head, I keep hold of his arm, my head still spinning.
“She asked for me to contact Blake for her.” I finally utter, my vision slowly coming back to me.
“What?!” He said befuddled.
Turning back to the scared Sophie, he exploded again.
“Why the hell would you ask her that?! Why? Have you any idea what you just asked of her? Ugh?”
Shaking with fear at the harshness of his words, she shakes her head no, holding back a sob and her tears.
“Well? Do you!?” He screams again, making the both of us jump.
“What’s so wrong about needing to find him? He’s the only one that can help Annabelle.” She cried out, holding her trembling body.
“What does Annabelle have to do with this?” Jerr asks, confused, his anger slightly subsiding.
Sophie remained quiet. I suppose I would too if Jeremy had busted out at me as he did to her.
“He’s Annabelle’s biological father,” I murmur, still holding on to him.
I don’t think my legs could support me on their own at this point.
“What!!!?” He yells out, making both me and Sophie jump again.
“You can’t possibly be serious?!” He asks, looking at me as if I had grown two heads, before looking back at Sophie.
“Is she serious? Is Blake Annabelle’s father” He asks Sophie through gritted teeth.
Sophie nods her head, still unable to look at him.
He’s really scaring her.
“Un-f*****g -believable!” He swore, passing both his hands across his face, looking more exasperated than when we fought a few years back.
“Did you tell her?” He asks, turning back to me.
For a moment, I don’t know what he’s talking about, but then it dawns on me.
“Oh! No… I didn't”
“Tell me what?” Sophie timidly asked.
“He’s dead,” Jeremy says coldly.
Sophie’s eyes bulge out and a low screech comes out of her mouth.
“NO! He can’t be dead! Tell me you are joking?” She cries out, looking up for the first since Jeremy started berating and yelling at her.
Jeremy finally looks at her straight face, but then freezes when he meets her eyes.
I hear Sophie gasp wide eyes, placing her hand over her mouth.
What just happened?
Time seems to have frozen. The air surrounding us is cold and frigid.
“I need some air,” Jerr says, not taking his eyes off of Sophie for what seems like an eternity.
Shaking off my hold on him, he turns on his heels and walks away briskly.
