Chapter 7: The Language of Light Jan jumped, startled. It was Jin-Woo, a senior who was known for his bullying ways. Jin-Woo was a notorious troublemaker, and he had a reputation for picking on anyone who seemed different. Jan felt his heart pounding in his chest. He knew he should just walk away, but he was frozen in place, his camera still pointed at Zehra. "I'm just taking pictures," Jan said, his voice barely a whisper. Jin-Woo sneered. "Taking pictures of the queen bee, are you? You think you're too good for us, huh?" Jan felt a wave of fear wash over him. He knew he was in trouble, but he couldn't bring himself to lower his camera. He was determined to capture this moment, this glimpse into the life of the girl he secretly admired. "Just leave me alone," Jan said, his voice trembling. Jin-Woo laughed, a cruel, mocking sound that sent shivers down Jan's spine. "You think you can just walk away? I'm not done with you yet." Jin-Woo grabbed Jan's camera, his grip tight and menacing. Jan struggled to pull it back, but Jin-Woo was too strong. He held the camera high above his head, his eyes gleaming with malice. "I'm going to break this," Jin-Woo said, his voice dripping with menace. "And then I'm going to break you." Jan felt a surge of panic. He knew he had to do something, but he didn't know what. He looked around, hoping for someone to help, but everyone seemed to be avoiding him. And then, he saw her. Zehra, her eyes blazing with anger, was walking towards them. "Jin-Woo, leave him alone," she said, her voice firm and commanding. Jin-Woo stopped, his eyes widening in surprise. He had never seen Zehra angry before. "What's it to you?" Jin-Woo said, his voice a little less confident now. "It's my school," Zehra said, her voice cold. "And I don't like bullies." Jin-Woo hesitated, his eyes darting between Zehra and Jan. He knew he couldn't win against her. He tossed the camera back to Jan, his face flushed with anger. "Fine," Jin-Woo said, his voice a little less confident now. "But don't think this is over." He turned and walked away, his shoulders slumped, his face a mask of anger and frustration. Zehra turned to Jan, her eyes still blazing with anger. "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice a little softer now. Jan felt a wave of relief wash over him. He was safe. He was protected. He looked at Zehra, his heart filled with gratitude. "I'm fine," he said, his voice trembling a little. "Thanks for... for helping me." Zehra smiled, her anger fading, replaced by a warmth that made Jan's heart flutter. "No problem," she said. "I don't like bullies." She looked at him, her eyes searching his face. "Are you sure you're okay?" she asked, her voice soft and concerned. Jan felt a blush creep up his cheeks. "I'm fine," he said, his voice gaining confidence. "Really." He looked at her, his eyes filled with admiration. "Thanks again," he said. "You saved me." Zehra smiled, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Don't worry," she said. "I've got your back." She turned and walked away, her confident stride a beacon of strength and resilience. Jan watched her go, his heart filled with a mixture of gratitude and admiration. He knew that he had found something special in Zehra, something that he had never experienced before.
