Daniel
I’m walking across the school grounds lost in my own thoughts when someone runs into me. I snapped out of my head in time to see some girl taking off to the woods. She didn’t stop to apologize or anything. Due to my wolf’s excellent hearing, I can tell she is sobbing. I shrug my shoulders and keep walking. Once I get into school, I find my buddies. They are all laughing and talking.
“Hey, what’d I miss?”
“Dude, it was hilarious! Cherry totally demolished Winter.” my beta Alex said as he was laughing so hard, he was in tears.
“What’d she do?” I snarked.
“She pushed her down and the orphan’s books went flying. She then made fun of her not being able to hold her own because her parents are dead.” laughed my other friend, Joe.
Cherry is such an a*****e and that is why I love her. I plan on mating her. But I also know that if my father, Alpha Thomas, hears about this, he is going to be pissed. Winter is the only orphan in the pack, and she is protected even though her family never amounted to anything. Ugh, I need to go check on her because if I don’t and my parents find out, I am dead. I rolled my eyes and told the guys that I'd be right back. Alex c***s an eyebrow at me.
“Bro, what the hell?”
I just shoot him a glare and he knows not to ask questions. I take off out of the school in the direction that Winter headed, now knowing she was the one who ran into me.
Winter
I find a big tree to hide behind. I leaned up against it and slid down to the ground. I hurt so badly, and so did my wolf. Even though I was just a young girl when my parents died, it still hurts us when someone brings them up.
“That evil b***h! I hate her!!” my wolf snarls. My wolf wants to rip her apart from limb to limb. She is so vile! I don’t understand how people actually want to be around her and I don’t understand how she can actually be that way. I lay my head on my arms that are crossed over my knees. All of a sudden, I hear rustling in the woods.
“Who the hell is that” my wolf snarls.
I try to hide myself by pressing back against the tree as much as possible. From around the side of the tree walks a male figure. He turns to look at me, and I see that it is Alpha Daniel. I bow my head, not just out of a sense of duty, but to also try and hide my tears. Daniel’s inauguration is in a few weeks.
“What’s wrong with Winter?” Daniel asked. His voice has no feeling in it.
Without looking at him, I answered him, “Nothing. Just someone being cruel.”
“Well, it must have been pretty bad to make you run into someone without apologizing as you ran into the woods.”
“I didn’t mean to. I’m sorry and it won’t happen again.” I answered softly, still not looking at him.
“Look at me when you are speaking to your future Alpha, orphan.” he growls at me.
I slowly raised my head and looked at him. My eyes flash as my wolf comes forward, “Mate!” she howls in my head. The look on his face tells me his wolf is saying the same thing. I slowly stood up to face him. He lunges at me, pinning me against the tree,
“Don't you dare say a word of any of this to anyone! Not even your friends! Do I make myself clear, you damn orphan?” he snarls menacingly at me.
“B-but you’re my mate.” I stammered.
“Shut up! I do not want you! You are pathetic and weak! Why would I want someone like you as my mate?” he snarls even louder.
“You are a worthless part of this pack. If you tell anyone about this, I will make you disappear for good!”
“I won’t say anything.” I say, as I start to cry. My wolf and my heart start to break.
He pushes off me, glares at me and starts to walk away.
“Remember what I said.” he growls while still walking back to school. And just like that, my mate is gone.
Aeric
I arise in the late morning, but my room is still dark. I linger in bed, not wanting to be here at all. Finally, I get up and walk over to the closet to get dressed. I throw on some nice jeans, though I hate wearing so many clothes, and a plain tank. I amble down the massive staircase and make my way to the kitchen where my sister is sitting with Herrick.
“Morning brother! Want some breakfast?” Astrid cheerfully chimed.
“Sure.” I grumble as I take my seat at the head of the table.
Before I could say anything, our cook, Kayleigh, places a cup of fresh hot coffee and a plate of bacon, french toast and eggs in front of me. It smells delicious! I take a bite and almost instantly my member starts to harden. I adjusted myself slightly and looked up to see both Astrid and Herrick giving me a weird look.
“Having trouble Sir?” Herrick asked with amusement in his tone.
“Erm.... Not in the slightest.”
“So, what are the plans for today? Remember, we are not here on vacay but to work.” Astrid spoke up.
“First off, vacay? What the hell does that mean? Second, I'm not quite sure yet.”
“Yea! Vacay.... It’s what the younger crowd say for vacation. And how do you not have a plan, bro?”
“Astrid, can you just speak normally? We are not like all these prosaic beings.”
“God, you are so dull. What’s wrong with at least trying to fit in while we are here?”
“Because we will not be here very long.” I said gruffly, starting to get annoyed with her.
“Herrick, have you done any research on this place or the packs around here?” I asked my bodyguard, trying to change the subject to the matter at hand.
“A little bit on the plane ride here. This is usually a noticeably quiet area except for the last few months. Numerous packs around here have become quite hostile towards each other.”
“How many packs are in the area?”
“At least six, Sir.” he says matter-of-factly.
“Ok.... And what are their complaints?”
“Oh! I can answer that one brother.” Astrid chimed in. She opens the 3-ring binder sitting next to her on the table.
“Where should I start?”
