Chapter 10 - Captured

3458 Words
(Jade’s POV) The first thing that hits my senses is the dank smell of rot and mould. It smells so bad, that I scrunch my face up in the hopes that the smell will pass. But it doesn’t. The next thing I noticed was the rough, cold and wet surface below me. There is a heavy fog in my brain, and confusion sets in. I try getting into a sitting position, but my limbs feel like jelly that hasn’t set quite yet. As soon as I’m in a somewhat upright position, my head starts throbbing heavily, causing me to shut my eyes tight. I instinctively grab my head and groan. I sneak a peek through my one eye, to at least see where I am. What could possibly smell this bad? The scene surrounding me looks unfamiliar, and it looks like an underground cell. There are bars in front of me, and the room is completely void of any light. “F*ck. Where am I? Lola, are you there?” I said to Lola, hoping she would answer back. I wasn't sure if I would be able to contact her. “I am here… Jade, we are in trouble.” Lola responded, but she sounded a little distant still. “What? What do you mean? Where are we?” “I am not sure, nothing smells familiar. Strong odour of rogues. I was blocked out as soon as they shot us with those darts again. I'm still weak.” Panic starts to set in as I replay the events before I was knocked out. “F*ck!” It felt like those f*cking rogues didn't take any chances this time, and gave me a really strong dose. “Yip.” This is all Lola says, because she knows as much as me that this is not a good position to be in. “Any ideas to get us out of here?” Before Lola can respond to me, we’re distracted by the noise coming from the far side of the room. With the wolf's bane not properly out of my system yet, my senses are still dull, and seeing that far in the dark is nearly impossible. I hold my breath to see who it is, but the pungent odour of a rogue is the first thing that does make it to my nose. I’m in the furthest corner that the cell offers, even though I know that won’t help me at all. “Well, well, well… the c*nt is finally awake! Or should I address you properly from now on... Princess.” Says an unfamiliar voice. I glance up and I could see the glow of the rogue’s eyes. It creeps me out. It gives me the same feeling I had at the bar. It must be him, the man at the bar. He still looks at me, recognition in his eyes. "That took you long enough. Remember me? Well, you won’t get away this time princess.” He sneers at me. This is the same guy that chased me down the first time. He looks down and removes a key from his jeans pocket, and starts opening the cell. “Don’t get any bright ideas now. I was given permission to use force to subdue you… as long as I keep you alive.” His voice majorly creeps me out, the hairs on my neck rising and what feels like bile stuck in my throat. Overcome with nausea, I hold back the urge to gag. I don’t have any strength yet, so it’s a bit difficult to do anything about keeping him away from me. I look around, but there is nothing that I can grab in sight. He’s getting closer, and I refuse to go down without a fight. He tried to grab onto my arm but bat him away. He can see that I’m going to struggle against him, so he uses more force to pull me closer. I try my best to kick, scratch, push, and hit, but my damn legs and arms still feel like Jell-O. He’s got me pressed tightly against his body now, and starts taking me out of the room. “What the f*ck are you doing?! Where are you taking me you sick freak?!” I scream at him. He chuckles and kisses his teeth. “Scream all you want little girl. No one can here you. This place is insulated and we are underground. You can scream until your lungs give out, no one will hear you.” “What the hell am I going to do?! Lola, can you shift?” “No, not yet.” Lola says with sadness. She cannot protect me. It’s not her fault but she’s carrying the guilt. “Lola, it’s okay. At least we’ll be together. Whatever happens, okay?!” “Always.” We are being taken to another section of the room, and in the centre of this section there is a metal chair. The closer we get to the chair, the stronger the scent of old blood gets. A portion of the chair seems to be going into the ground, and large bolts on each leg indicating that the chair won’t budge. He’s going to immobilise me here. I can see the heavy, thick cuffs at both wrists and ankles. I start trying to break free again, but I don’t have enough strength or speed to get away. How much did they f*cking give me?! He’s not having any of it, easily pinning me down. He’s just about to set me in the chair when another rogue shows up and makes his way to us. “Finally, what took you so long?” Rogue number one said. “Took a piss you d**k,” said Rogue number two. “Come on man, this one is feisty. Grab her arms, while I take care of her legs.” Said rogue one. All the while I continue to struggle in their grip. No way am I making this easy for them. But before long, I am heaving. Out of breath and tired, I decide to give up. Better to conserve my energy. I’m completely bolted down now. The metal of the cuffs, cutting into my skin. The cold seeping into my bones. Rogue one, looks up at me and drags his hands up my legs, squeezing my thighs. It makes me cringe, and there is nowhere to go. I spit in his face, hoping that will get him away. It does. He gets up and wipes his face. The hate and lust in his eyes is disturbing, but I don’t change my facial expression. Too fast for me to register, he gives me a backhand slap across my face. He hit so hard, it felt like something might have cracked, and I taste the blood in my mouth. He does not wait to hear or see any response. He turns and starts walking away. They’re about to leave, but I have no idea where I am. “Hey you! Rogue one! Where am I?!” I shout. He continues walking without looking back. “Hey! WHERE AM I?!” I shout again, this time he stops and looks back at me. He pauses a moment before answering. “I don’t answer to you… C*nt!” he shouts at me, and continues on his way while mumbling to himself, "all you f*cking royals, thinking you're better than everyone else." I'm in a f*cking cell for crying out loud! What's so much better than this right now? I'm shaking and rattling the metal chair, trying my best to pull my limbs from their mini prison I scream at the top of my lungs, “F*CK!!!” (Hunter’s POV) “F*CK!!!” I feel like I’m losing my mind. Jade has been gone for three days now, and the only lead I have is the Rogue Alpha. Since the first rogue gave us that information, it only made sense that they took her. After running like hell to catch up to her, her scent came to an abrupt halt and stopped there. The site I ended up at where her scent ended was surrounded by the odour of rogues. I tried finding out which way they went, but the f*ckers must have had some sort of way to mask their odour from that point. It was like they were sending me a message. They could easily have masked their odours before taking her, but it was like they were baiting me, saying to me “we will be waiting for you.” While I knew where they were, going there needed careful planning and a strategy in place. I have one chance to get her out, and I can’t mess it up. Why did she run away? We could have sorted this out together, but she ran away from me. I try not to think about it, but I can only imagine what that scene must have looked like for her. I loathe myself for being so weak. How the f*ck could I be so weak? I should have realised it was not her. “F*CK”! Guilt has kept me up and in misery. What had happened with Jen…? There was no excuse to have fallen for some pathetic potion and scents like that. Since it happened, I sent the material to a specialist and received a detailed report. Dr. Samantha is one of our chemical experts, working in her own lab on pack lands. What she described in the report was something along the lines of an incredibly strong hallucinogen that was made specifically for me by using Jade’s DNA. They had paired that with a strong enough aphrodisiac that, according to Dr. Samantha, I really had no chance. This did not kill the guilt. I don’t have a clear memory of what happened, but the moment I saw my true mate standing at the door, my heart sunk. I wanted to kill Jen. I wanted to watch her die at my hands, but when I got back to the packhouse she was nowhere to be seen. I sent my men out to search for her but she vanished just like the rogues did. That was when I realised that Jen was in on the plan all along. She may very well have orchestrated the whole deal. Once I find her too, she will face the consequences for her betrayal to her Alpha, and her pack. How did she even know about Jade? Was she the one to finally notice the power around Jade? We knew at some point someone would find out, but why did it have to be Jen? “Ahem…” someone clearing their throat caught my attention. Sh*t, I forgot that I called this meeting. My most trusted group of men was sitting at the table waiting for me to say something. As soon as Jade went missing I called upon my betas and gammas, and explained what happened fully. I trusted them with my life, I might as well trust them with my idiocy. We were here to discuss a plan, but I felt like I was miles away. Once being in contact with one’s true mate, distance or separation for long periods of time can really f*ck you over. I needed her here with me, and the longer she’s gone, the crazier I feel. I’m on edge. “Sorry guys. I think I’m losing my mind.” I said. Fatigue is eating away at my focus. I cannot lose focus. “Alpha, look… we know what is at stake here, and we don’t know what these rogues plan to do right now, but I think it would be best if you got some rest. You’ve been up since she went missing… We’ll come up with some more plans while you recuperate?” Jason asked. “Yeah, come on man, you look like sh*t. You’re not any help right now. We’ll update you when you’re ready.” Justin added. “I can’t leave right now, I need to keep going. Let’s go over some plans.” I said to them. Sitting more upright, giving them my full attention now. “Alpha, we just did, and you zoned out. Do you recall anything we just said?” Jason asked. “F*CK! I’m useless.” I said, frustrated. I started getting up from my seat, admitting defeat. There is nothing I can do for Jade if I can’t even think straight. But there was one more thing I had to come clean to them about. They were going to protect her with their lives too. I trusted them with this information. "Betas, gammas, stay behind... The rest, please leave. Thank you for coming, I will inform you on the next step soon. You can get back to your posts for now." Hunter said to the group in front of him. They all filed out bowing as they went along. I may be the Alpha of this pack, but I didn't like taking advantage of my pack members or wasting their time. I promised myself then and there that I would be better than I was today. They don't deserve weakness from their Alpha. Turning back to my four best friends, I decided it was time they knew too. "Jade is the sole survivor and heir to the Midnight Moon Pack." I said. They look at me with a blank expression. "Uh.. Alpha? I really think you should get some rest now." Tucker says, starting to get up and actually starts leading me to the door. I start to growl and he backs off. Tucker walks back slowly and looks over at the others. "Wait, Alpha... you mean to say that Jade, as in Jade Rose, the f*cking princess of our species , is your Jade?" Justin shoots up from his seat. Everyone starts talking at once and I let them get it out first. When they eventually settle down, and all are standing around me now I decide to continue. Explaining how I found out who she was and that she had been in hiding. Deciding to keep it secret to keep her safe. "Wow, Hunter, that's messed up man. You could have told us sooner. We were in the presence of royalty... F*ck, had we known, we would probably have behaved better." Jason said, looking embarrased. "No, she asked me to keep it secret. She really loves the pack so I don't think she minded how you were around her. She's not like that." I reply. "She must have been so alone. I can't imagine being without a pack even for a week. She's f*cking strong! I'm proud to have her for my Luna." Bryan said. "Remember guys, we still need to keep it secret. Just until the time is right. She's in enough danger as it is." Feeling relieved that they all knew and were on the same page, I decided to take my leave. “I’ll see you guys first thing in the morning,” I said as I start leaving the office. I make my way up to my room, and take the longest shower of my life. The heat of the water is scolding hot, burning my skin, but I needed to punish myself somehow. So I stand there long enough, hoping my guilt will run down the drain along with my regret. Not before long, I’m out before my head it the pillow. (Jade’s POV) I don’t know what time of the day it is, and I can’t make out any sounds of movement beyond this room. The last time Rogue one came back to the room was with a glass of water. I was so thirsty that I downed it as fast as I could, only to realise that they’ve even laced that with wolfs bane. That burned my mouth and throat like a mother*cker. So I couldn’t speak to Lola, and I couldn’t use my aura to do anything. I couldn’t even shift. I was useless. It’s been a few hours now since they left me here. It felt like forever since those d*nm rogues left me here. I haven’t peed since I got here, I’m thirsty for actual water, and I’m starving. I need to come up with an escape plan, but I need them to get me out of this chair first. I try screaming at the top of my lungs, but my voice is gone to sh*t. Maybe they really can’t hear anything from out there wherever we are. Thoughts about Hunter constantly bombarding my brain, with images of him and Jen. I cried my heart out a couple of times. Hunter won’t save me, he has who he has always wanted. He’s rid of me, so why do I miss him so much?! I thought he loved me. I still loved him dammit. Why did I still love him? My heart breaks every time those images flash through my mind, until my tears eventually run dry. I have nothing left in me. I’ve been punishing myself for trusting him so quickly. Stabbing pain after stabbing pain until it became a constant dull ache in my chest. This was my fault. I should have been stronger. I should have escaped the moment I woke up in his arms. I just have to move on. Escape first then move on, and go back into hiding. Maybe I wasn’t meant to be free in this lifetime. The first thing I will do when I am free of this place is to find Hunter, walk up to him, and reject our bond. He should have done that in the first place instead of leading me on like that. It felt like they might have left me here for what felt like an entire day. I finally heard rattling at the entrance of the room I was in. I’ve slowly been losing my mind all alone here, with no way of telling the time of day, this was my chance to try and escape. I slump my body, let my head fall forward, and slow down my breathing. Hoping it looked like I was asleep. “Look at this c*nt… You don’t act too good miss. Quit the act. We know you’re awake.” It was Rogue one’s voice. I stay still and keep up the act. “You’re not too bright are you? We can see you outside of this room, there are cameras. I’m surprised you didn’t spot them. Most who sit in this chair do, before they die anyway.” Rogue one said, whilst chuckling to himself as if he’s having fond memories. Ugh. I slowly peek up and look at him through my lashes. Now is my opportunity to try and escape. I may not have another opportunity like this again. “I need the bathroom… nature is calling. Can you take these off me just to sort myself out? I’ll be quick, I promise.” I say bouncing in my seat a little, squeezing my knees together. He looks at me for a moment before coming closer to me. “Make it quick, we ain’t got all day. We have plans for you today. You get to meet the Rogue Alpha.” He starts to unlock my feet first, then my wrists. I have to wait until I’m completely free before I make my move. As soon as I was completely free, I head butt him as hard as I can, causing his head to shoot backwards. I get up quickly and aim for his balls, kicking him as hard as I possibly can. He’s body careens forward and he falls to his knees. This time I aim for his throat, giving him my best karate chop, momentarily choking him. I don’t wait any longer, and I run in the direction of the door. I don’t know where I am but this is my moment. I make my way out of the room, and follow the tunnel. There’s a heavy metal door, and I can smell my freedom. I run faster, and I can hear Rogue one shouting far behind me. I need to get out like right now. Reaching the door, I turn the knob and push hard. The sun blinds me momentarily, and before I can continue my escape, there’s a loud growl and hands lock around me. I’m trying my best to kick and hit but it’s useless. I’m not strong enough. A voice came from the side of me, “Where do you think you’re going lady?” “Fuck.” I cussed under my breath. When will I catch a break?
