(Jade's POV)
I haven’t seen Hunter since he left last night. But everyone around me looks passive enough, so I try not to panic. Being away from him, even for just a few hours, has a toll on me. A big piece of me that I never knew was missing, suddenly leaves me feeling almost heartbroken.
I’ve felt deeply before, but I did not know that I could experience this magnitude of emotions for one person. I gave Hunter a very personal part of myself last night that I haven’t given anyone before. I did not even know it could feel so good. Just thinking about it makes me blush profusely, smile and giggle like a little girl who has just received the best gift ever. We are creating a stronger bond each day, and I am starting to feel like I’m part of a pack again. This morning I feel as though I can conquer the world!
I’m in the kitchen to get breakfast, when Jennifer walks in, and I catch the b*tchy look she gives me before plastering a fake smile on her face. Oh well, there goes my happy morning. No, I won’t let her get to me, I think to myself.
“Good morning! Well, if it isn’t the so-called “Luna”. How are you this morning?!” she sneers at me.
“Look, what’s your problem with me? I can understand if I’ve done something to offend you. But you have no reason to speak to me that way. I will not take disrespect from anyone.” I said calmly. Her tone with me is changing fast since the last time I spoke with her. She at least attempted to be nice before.
“Ooooh, I’m so scared. Gosh, how much of a sl*t are you to make Hunter think you’re his mate?”
“Excuse me?!” I said, anger setting in.
“His mine, you know. I have everything he could ever need in a mate and Luna. I’m pretty sure I satisfy his… needs, better too. I was promised the position of Luna, so you better stay out of my way,” she continues with an obsessive look in her eyes, and I’m seething. She’s floating around the kitchen like she owns the place and I’m trying my best to keep Lola in control, and not show Jennifer how affected I am by what she’s saying to me. Just how many women has Hunter been with, and are they all this crazy? Will I have to fight off a whole horde of women who think they have some psycho claim to him?
“You must be deluded if you think he’s yours in any sense of the word, Jennifer.” I said her name with disgust. “I will be your Luna. You had better be careful of the tone you use with me. If I’ve ever made you think that I back down from anything, you’re highly mistaken. I don’t take lightly all the b**llsh*t you just spewed. For the record, whatever you had going with him in the past, that’s exactly where it is and will remain, in the past.” I can feel my power wanting to push through, and it took everything in me to hold it back. No one could know who she truly was just yet. Not many knew her by her name, because the wolf world was fairly in the dark about the heir to the Midnight Moon Pack, or that one even existed. But anyone would know who she was if she slipped up.
“We’ll see about that… Don’t say I didn’t warn you. By the way, it’s Jen to Hunter.” she says with a smirk, and leaves the kitchen before I can backhand slap her.
Losing my appetite, I leave the kitchen and decide to go for a walk. At least getting to know the pack has been wonderful, they’ve accepted me as if I was part of the pack already. I was planning to check out the training facilities before I got majorly side-tracked.
Ruth had given me directions before she left the kitchen, so I decided to make my way there.
I came to a single double building, and I could see through the glass doors that training had already begun. I make my way through the doors, and spot both gammas. Bryan is overseeing the sparring and Justin makes his way over to me.
“Hi Jade, what can I do for you?”
“Hey Justin, I just wanted to check out the facilities. I’ve been feeling a bit stiff since the recovery, and thought it would be a good idea to start training.”
“You have any experience of training and sparring?”
“I do, but it’s been a while now. I’m super rusty. Will you help me?”
“Sure, let me show you around first.” Justin started leading me through the place. The top floor is for the younger kids who are just starting. They are a little too young to start training with the adult wolves. Ages range from about six years old to about fifteen. Below is where the wolves sixteen and over start on their more advanced training. They have a section on each floor as well for some very expensive-looking gym equipment.
“Wow, this place is amazing. Do the pups use the equipment too?” I asked, a bit worried about them.
“Only once they’ve passed the basic training can they start using the equipment. We train them to use those correctly too,” Justin says.
“Oh, okay… cool. So, I need to blow some steam, can I start right now?” I said to Justin, a little too excited.
“What’s got you so amped up? Everything alright?” Justin asks.
“Well… I don’t really want to talk about it. No offense, Justin.”
“No worries, say no more. Let’s do some stretches first, then we can take a look at what level of sparring you’re on.”
“Let’s go!” I said, giving a quick jump and clap, amping myself up even more. Justin laughs, but leads me to a set of mats. We do the simple stretches, and that alone makes my muscles feel amazing.
Once we’re done, Justin gets up and I follow suit.
“Okay, you ready for some sparring?” Justin asks.
“Hell yeah,” I grinned and we started circling each other. I can see that Justin is trying to see how I move. Immediately going in to training mode, and picking up on any mistakes I make. It is our first time sparring, so I fully expect him to make the first move, just for us to get in to it.
If I were to describe werewolf training, I would describe it as mixed martial arts, but with our own werewolf twist. We add our own style to enhance our moves, and we focus on sharpening our senses, because it could literally mean life and death. Clearly, I have not been training, since I’ve put my life at risk twice in a short space of time.
Justin comes at me and immediately throws a punch. I quickly dodge it and prepare a punch of my own, but he dodges as well. Smirking at me, he came at me faster this time, going almost a little too fast that I missed the moves. He grapples me, getting me into a submission hold. The most menacing growl is bouncing off the walls, and everyone in the training facility stops, including us. I can feel him before I see him. Justin helps me up, and looking ahead at where the growl came from, I see Hunter storming our way. His clear anger confuses me.
“Get. Away. From. My. Mate.” Hunter whisper-growls. His eyes switched between hazel and the gold glow of his wolf. He reaches for me and grabs me as close to him as possible.
“Hey… Alpha, come on man, we were just sparring. Calm down.” Justin is backing away slowly, holding his hands up in a non-threatening way.
Hunter seems to be struggling for control and is now stalking towards Justin, leaving me behind. Bryan shows up in front of Hunter, trying to block his path to his brother. I could see Hunter’s intent so I quickly reached out for his arm, “Hunter, please! Calm down… Hey, hey, look at me!” I said to Hunter, trying to pull him back.
He seemed to pause for a moment, looking at me. He blinked a few times, and I saw his eyes return to normal. “What was that about?!” I asked, confused.
He ignores me, instead turning to Justin, “What do you think you’re doing with my mate?”
“Dude, we’re in the training facilities man. Jade asked if I could help her out and we needed to see what level she was at with her training. We hardly got started before you stopped us.”
Hunter, clearly trying to keep calm, takes a deep breath. He doesn’t say anything, he turns around and grabs me so fast it makes my head spin, and the next thing I know is that I’ve been flung upside down, and all I can see is Hunter’s back and a very fine butt.
“Hunter! What do you think you’re doing?! Put me down right now! Let me go! I can walk!” I’m shouting, kicking and hitting his back with my fists, but he doesn’t seem to care. I’m so embarrassed, as he is basically walking me through the d*nm pack streets, and I can only imagine the stares we must be getting. I decided not to make an even bigger scene, so I stopped fighting.
We eventually get to the pack house, and he takes me directly to his room. My feet don’t even touch the floor yet when I ask, “What the hell was that for? What type of caveman are you to carry me around like that? I really don’t care what people think about me, but that is not a great impression for me to make, you know! Do the women in your pack not train? I’m pretty sure I saw some she-wolves training as well.”
Hunter gives me a glare, “Why didn’t you speak to me first? Do you know how close I came to hurting Justin, seeing you so close to him…,” he struggles, anger building again.
“Seriously, this was about me training with Justin? You know that I’m your mate, right? That I couldn’t possibly look at anyone else that way.”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t stand having another male that close to you. I think I will definitely lose my sh*t if I see something like that again. If you want to train, please train with me instead.” Hunter looks at me with pleading eyes, and I can feel him tugging on my heart strings. He reaches for me and pulls me in for a hug. “I missed you, Jade. When I got back, you weren’t here. Ruth said you would be in training, but when I saw you in that position I… I couldn’t control myself or my anger.”
“Hunter, don’t you mean jealousy?” I asked, tucked into his chest. Taking in his amazing scent of mint and dark chocolate. I pulled away and looked at him. Hunter’s eyes start to darken, and I can still see the jealousy in his eyes, but also his possessiveness. It kind of turns me on.
“You’re mine. Only I get to touch you, or to have you that close, do you understand?” Hunter says a little too demanding, and it irks me a little.
I pulled away from him, turned around and went further into the room. “I really don’t like being told what to do, Hunter. Do you not trust me?”
“Of course I do. To be honest, I should probably apologize to Justin. He didn’t deserve that. I’ll apologize okay, please don’t be mad at me.” Hunter says.
I ignored him, and walked towards the window. Looking out at the scenery, I focus my attention outside before I feel I’m being turned and pushed against the wall so fast that it makes my head spin. I hardly have time to catch my breath when I feel Hunters lips crush down on mine. The heat of his body pressed so tightly against mine, leaving no space between us. My lips open as I gasp, pulling warm air from his mouth into mine. Our tongues find each other, and all I can focus on is the heat and possessiveness of his kiss. This kiss feels like a claim.
I can feel his hardness pressed against my stomach. He lifts me from the ground, holding me under my thighs and b*tt. I’m still tightly pressed against him, and I wrap my legs around his waist. Hunter grinds himself against me, his hard-on directly against my core. It feels amazing, and the thin legging material isn’t helping. I moan his name loudly as he grinds on just the right spot. He continues his grinding exactly where I need it, and I can feel myself getting closer to the edge. My breathing is becoming more ragged and I start moaning his name. My core is tightening to the point of no return, “That’s right baby, c*m for me…” Hunter whispers in my ear as he continues his relentless grinding, and I detonate against him. I feel Hunter shaking too, and I feel him twitching against me.
He holds me in the same position, until we both catch our breath.
“Wow…” that’s all I managed to get out.
“You can say that again,” Hunter whispers to me, still tucked in the crook of my neck. He kisses my marking spot and I shiver from the pleasure I feel there. Tingles erupting across my skin as always.
He slowly puts me down, and kisses my lips more gently this time. Leaning down, Hunter rests his forehead against mine. Our lips a breath apart, and his eyes are closed.
“You mean more to me than I ever thought possible, Jade.” Hunter says with so much emotion, I’m slightly taken aback.
“Hunter… I can say the same. I thank the Moon Goddess every day for bringing you to me. Or bringing me to you, you know what I mean,” I said to Hunter.
“Oh, I do have a question for you though. Are there any other she-wolves I will have to fight off in this pack? The one I’m dealing with is already too much,” I said.
“It’s all in the past, Jade. There is nothing I can do about it now. I can only say that they meant nothing, and I’ve made that clear to anyone I was ever with. I’m really sorry I was such a man-wh**e”, Hunter said.
“Well, it looks like one of them seems to be under the impression that you were more than a s*x buddy, and that promises were made.” I said.
“Who? If you’re speaking about Jennifer, then don’t worry about her. I’ll deal with her, she’s truly harmless. All bark, no bite.” Hunter said.
“I hope you’re right. Something doesn’t seem right with Jennifer. She seems a little crazy, no offense. You have terrible taste in women, you know that.” I said to Hunter, and he gave me a sheepish grin.
“I’m really sorry you had to deal with that, Jade. It’s something I feel sh*t about right now, but please know that you won’t have to deal with it again. I won’t let my past follow me into my future with you.” Hunter says, “You are everything to me now. Nothing and no one will come between us, do you understand?”
“Yes, yes, fine… I trust you.” I said to Hunter.
“Thank you, love.” Hunter kisses my forehead.
We spent the next few days together, getting to know each other better. I haven’t told Hunter this, but I fall for him more and more each moment we spend together. I still have nightmares, but he’s there to hold me each time. We’ve decided on a training routine that works for both of us. Hunter has showed me around more as well, and also what his title as Alpha entails. I’ve been helping him where I can to make the workload easier, and I’ve also become closer to the gamma’s mates, Stacy and Kirsten. Volunteering to spend more time with the cute pups at the kindergarten school has been amazing too. The school is not too far from the pack house. I haven’t seen Jen during those days. She has been uncharacteristically quiet, “Thank goddess,” Lola says to me.
“True… I could really get used to this, Lola.”
(Jen’s POV)
That b***h! Who does she think she is?! My Alpha’s mate? Ha! I’ll show her who the true Luna of the Silver Moon Pack is. Jen thinks to herself as she makes her way across the border. She had told her friends that she would be out of town for a few days on a short vacation alone. No one thought much of it, because she took trips like this often.
This made the next part of her plan even sweeter. No one will suspect her until the moment comes. She doesn’t need any hindrances right now. I’ll make sure you pay Hunter! I’ll give you what you deserve. She thinks happily to herself.
About an hour after leaving the border, she stops at a diner and takes a seat at a table.
“Good afternoon ‘mam, what can I get you?” The waitress asks, holding her booklet and pen.
“Just a coffee please,” Jen says.
“And anything for you sir?” The waitress asks the man sitting across from Jen.
“No.” he growls out to the waitress. Her human senses pick up on the tension and darkness in the space. She scurries away quickly.
“Do you have what I asked for?” Jen asks the man across from her, holding her head up with a big dash of arrogance.
“The question is, do you have what I want?” says the man.
“Of course I do, but we had a deal, remember?” Jen says under her breath, taking a quick look around the room to make sure she didn’t know anyone there. But all she can sense is humans.
“Do you question me?” the anger in the man’s tone became evident.
“No, no, of course not sir. Here you go,” she pushes something across the table, and the man takes it from her, not bothered at all by who sees what they’re doing. He takes a look and smiles. It’s an eerie smile, but Jen doesn’t seem to notice.
“Perfect. Take the newspaper with you, everything you need is there. You had better keep your part of the deal. I don’t take betrayal lightly.” He growls out.
“I will not disappoint you.” Jen beams at the man, oblivious to his obvious threat.
Leaving the diner, Jen decides to go shopping. Devising the plan of events for when she gets back. Deciding to stay at a hotel before heading home, Jens takes a look at the items she’s purchased. Smiling wickedly to herself. Everything is going perfectly. I’ll make her pay. Happily she gets in to bed and calls it a night.
