Waiting for what felt like forever, Jim never moved from where he stood.
The moment Nicholas realized he was in real legal trouble…
He panicked.
“I’m sorry for what I did, Mirella,” he blurted out. “You’re just such an inconsistent and selfish person. Ever since we were kids, I’ve never known when you’re being real.”
“If paperwork says you can’t do something, but you still try to do it anyway, then why even get evaluated if you’re just going to ignore it?”
“It doesn’t make any sense.”
He looked up at Jim.
“Look, Officer…”
“I know I screwed up.”
“Just let me grab what I came here for, and I’ll leave.”
“I’ll leave her alone forever.”
Every word that came out of Nicholas’s mouth hurt.
