Chapter 11: The Unexpected Test
Jason sat in the backseat of the sleek security car, his mind still reeling from the sight of Ruhi, his celebrity crush, standing just a few feet away from him earlier. He had admired her from afar for so long—through movies, interviews, and magazines—and now, here she was, in the flesh. The rush of emotions he felt was overwhelming. He wasn’t a starstruck fan anymore; he was her protector. Yet the reality of being so close to her was far more intense than anything he had imagined.
He tried to focus on the task at hand, knowing that his job came with immense responsibility. The security team had been briefed on their mission for the day: protect Ruhi at all costs during her concert, where millions of fans would be eagerly waiting. It was going to be chaotic, and any small incident could spark disaster.
As they drove toward the concert venue, Jason found himself stealing glances at Ruhi from the distance, seated in the other vehicle ahead of them. She radiated a quiet confidence, her face hidden behind large sunglasses, but even that couldn’t dim her beauty in Jason’s eyes. He shook his head, reminding himself to stay professional. This was his job now, not a fan fantasy.
“Hey, Jason! Get in the car fast!” one of the senior guards called out, snapping Jason back to reality. He quickly slid into the vehicle, pushing his thoughts aside. There was no room for distraction now. The concert location loomed ahead, buzzing with activity. Crowds had already begun gathering outside the venue, and Jason could feel the tension in the air as they approached.
---
The moment they arrived at the concert venue, the team sprang into action. They moved quickly, surrounding Ruhi as she exited the car, guiding her through the sea of fans and flashing cameras. Jason was on high alert, scanning the crowd for any sign of trouble. The sheer number of people was overwhelming, but the team was prepared. They had been briefed on every possible security threat, and they were determined to ensure Ruhi’s safety.
Once inside, they escorted Ruhi to her hotel room, which had been booked for her stay after the concert. Jason took his position at the door, standing with one of the other guards, while Ruhi and her assistant settled inside. It felt surreal to be this close to her, guarding the door to her personal space. But Jason pushed the thoughts away. Focus on the job, he reminded himself.
While Jason stood at his post, another guard began checking the rest of the hotel for security breaches. The air was tense, but everything seemed to be going smoothly so far. Jason exchanged a few words with the guard beside him, keeping things professional and focused. His senses were heightened, his training kicking in. He was ready for anything.
---
Suddenly, a tall, well-dressed man approached the door. Jason recognized him immediately—a famous celebrity himself, known for his arrogance and fiery temper. He strutted toward them confidently, his presence radiating entitlement. Jason instinctively straightened, preparing for what might come next.
The other guard stepped forward, blocking his path. “Sir, do you have permission to see Ruhi?” he asked politely but firmly.
The man smirked. “I don’t need permission. Just tell Ruhi I’m here.”
“We have strict orders not to let anyone in without permission, sir,” the guard responded calmly. “Please contact her first.”
The man’s smirk faded, replaced by irritation. He pulled out his phone, quickly dialing a number. “I’m calling her now,” he said, holding the phone to his ear. Jason watched the situation closely, his instincts telling him something was off.
After a few moments, the man grunted in frustration. “She’s not answering. Just let me in. She knows me.”
“Sir, without Ruhi’s permission, we cannot let anyone inside. It’s our duty to follow the protocol.”
The man’s expression darkened. His face twisted with anger as he stepped closer to the guard. “Do you know who I am? I don’t need your permission. Now step aside!”
The guard remained firm. “I’m sorry, sir. We cannot do that.”
Without warning, the man’s hand lashed out, slapping the guard across the face. The sound echoed down the hallway, and Jason immediately stepped forward, tension rising. The guard, shocked but maintaining his composure, held up his hands to de-escalate the situation.
“Sir, please—”
Before the guard could finish, the man grabbed him by the collar, yanking him close. “I told you, let me in!” His voice was a low growl, filled with arrogance and entitlement.
Jason’s eyes narrowed. He knew this was the moment to step in. His training, his instincts, all screamed at him to act. With swift precision, Jason grabbed the man’s wrist, prying his hand off the guard’s collar in one fluid motion. He twisted the man’s wrist, forcing him to back off.
“That’s enough,” Jason said coldly, stepping between the guard and the celebrity. His calm demeanor masked the dangerous edge in his voice. “You don’t get to treat people like that.”
The man’s eyes widened in surprise as Jason’s grip tightened on his wrist. “Who the hell are you?” the man spat, anger flaring.
“I’m Ruhi’s bodyguard,” Jason replied, his voice steady and unshaken. “And it’s my job to protect her from people like you.”
The man tried to jerk his hand free, but Jason didn’t let go. Instead, he stared him down, his gaze unwavering. “I suggest you walk away before this gets worse for you.”
Enraged, the man swung at Jason, his fist aimed for Jason’s face. But Jason was ready. He ducked effortlessly, twisting the man’s arm behind his back with ease. In a flash, Jason brought his knee up and slammed it into the man’s stomach, knocking the wind out of him. The man stumbled back, gasping for air, his eyes wide in disbelief.
Without giving him a chance to recover, Jason delivered a series of quick punches, his movements sharp and precise. Each hit landed perfectly, and within seconds, the man crumpled to the floor, groaning in pain. The hallway was dead silent as the other guards watched, wide-eyed.
Jason stood over the man, his breathing steady, his body calm. He didn’t feel any rush from the fight—just a sense of doing what needed to be done.
The man lay on the ground, clutching his stomach and looking up at Jason in shock. He had clearly never expected to be taken down so easily. Jason’s presence, his calm strength, had completely overpowered him.
The other guard, still stunned by the quick escalation, finally found his voice. “I—I’ll handle the rest of this,” he stammered, looking between Jason and the man on the floor.
Jason nodded, stepping back without another word. His job was done. He had protected Ruhi, not just from a physical threat, but from the arrogance and entitlement of someone who thought they were above the rules.
As the other guards helped the man up, Jason stood tall, his expression calm. His fellow guard looked at him with newfound respect, clearly shocked by how easily Jason had handled the situation.
Jason gave him a slight nod, his mind already back on the job. This was just the beginning. And nothing—not even an arrogant celebrity—would distract him from his mission.
