8 Smashed, Gutted, Ruined ‘Teyacapan,’ said a voice at the door. The woman entered. ‘It is time to go. They wait to bathe and dress you.’ ‘GET. OUT.’ It was a voice she didn’t recognise, until with a jolt of horror she realised it was her own. The day had come, but every nerve inside her screamed out NO. The sound of drums and chanting was growing louder. Rage lacerated her insides. Too soon. She didn’t want it to be over yet. There had to be a way to stop what was going to happen. ‘Do not be afraid.
