16 A Blank Space It wasn’t an easy thing to accept – that it was possible to move backwards through time, and thinking about it made Teya’s head hurt even more. So she skirted the idea, allowing herself to think of it for a few moments only, then pushing it aside to retreat again into blankness. In the end it just seemed too hard to grapple with. Her mind was too tired, and it was easier to give in and simply believe, without trying to understand. She lay for days staring up the thatch above her head until she was in an agony of boredom and anxiety. She had to do something to escape, but she was just too weak to move.
