I took a taxi to my office building while the first seconds of the recording loaded. The lobby lights were off, and emergency strips lit the hall to the elevators. In my office, I sat in the dark with the phone on the desk. Rainwater ran from my sleeves onto the leather chair. The trophies on the shelf caught the light from the city. Every one of them carried my name. For once, none of them offered an answer. The file began with static. Then rain struck metal through the speaker.
