The Moon Symphony

Purification - Part Two

Our group continued in opening the gate of the Underworld. But why do I have this weird feeling? I feel uneasy. 

Is it because of the souls that are waiting for their passage to their rightful places? As far as we know, most of the souls were brutally killed. That's why they are giving these ominous vibes. I can hear some souls wishing for revenge, while most of them wanted to pass peacefully. 

"Come forth, oh vessel of the Underworld!"

The boat appeared in the middle of the swamp. This means that it is time to head below the Underworld. I cast some Ice magic, made a platform where I could step, and headed to the boat. 

I checked if everyone was ready, and Baku gave me a thumbs-up as a signal. I raised the staff that Makisig gave me and called upon the souls waiting.

"Come forth, o souls that seek the afterlife, follow thy light, serve this as a guide!"

The small lights began to float towards where I was standing. Little by little, the boat was filled with the souls of those who passed. I guess this is the time to start their journey.

"Good luck, Yari!" I heard Apo shouted. 

I looked at everyone and waved at them. The feeling of uneasiness was still here. I don't know, but hopefully, nothing wrong will happen. 

I raised my staff and cast my spell. The wooden staff began emitting a bright light, and the water from the swamp started to lower down. The boat started descending on the portal towards the Underworld. 

I felt relieved that everything was going smoothly, but I still have this weird feeling that something ominous was coming at us. I know because the souls here did not radiate that aura. Where did that aura from earlier come from?

Suddenly, the light shining from the moon was gone, and the surrounding went dark. Only the flickering lights from the souls were visible. 

"Hey, guys! Can you hear me?" I shouted. 

I know that I did not successfully descend to the Underworld because I felt that the boat stopped. I summoned three balls of lights, and I was surprised by what I saw. There were hordes of flying monsters waiting for the chance to attack us. I jumped out of the boat and saw that the others were frozen in place. They were rooted by the dark haze and unable to move. 

Then I heard a burst of shrill laughter from the surroundings. 

I can feel the evil aura coming closer and closer to where I was. Then a bolt of lighting was hurled towards me, but I successfully countered the attack by summoning an Ice shield. The force was so strong that I was pushed backward by the attack. 

I checked on everyone for their safety, but luckily, I was the one being targeted. What should I do? It will be dangerous if one of them gets attacked next. I cannot cast a powerful barrier like Ester. 

My guess was correct, the enemy aimed towards Anan, but I countered the attack again by summoning my light threads. 

"It's fun, isn't it? Today will be the day you will perish, chosen of the moon." The enemy said. 

"Who are you, and what do you want?" I said.

I observed my surroundings again to get ready for another surprise attack. I need to undo the spell cast on my siblings and friends, but I need to find where the enemy is hiding. I need to take care of these monsters. 

I need to hurry since the ritual is ongoing. The souls might vanish if I can't make it on time. I closed my eyes and gathered my spiritual energy on my palms. 

Dance of the Moonlight!

My physical attribute rose up, and I summoned the Night's fall. I gripped the handle tightly, and I leaped in the air. I started hacking and slashing the monsters, and one by one, they fell down. 

While my incantation was active, I cast another spell, and two orbs of light appeared and started moving on their own. They were different than the energy orbs earlier as they were only used for lighting.

The orbs started moving around, and a burst of energy came out from them, wiping out the monsters on the ground. The spheres continued the barrage of attacks on the monsters while I continued looking for the enemy. The number of the demons started to go down, but I cannot find its source. 

I ran around and commanded the spheres to go forward to kill the remaining demons. Where could the enemy be?

I went back to the swamp, and still, there was no trace of the assailant. My time is running, and I need to defeat the enemy faster.

Another lightning spear was hurled towards me, but I deflected it with the Night's fall. Then lightning spears started raining down on me, and I evaded it successfully. Since Dance of the Moonlight is still active, I was able to avoid the attacks. 

I closed my eyes and tried sensing the ominous aura, but what I can feel was misleading. The movements were too fast. The enemy is moving from one place to another as if he was driving with the shadows.

Wait, that could be the answer!

I stopped on my tracks and closed my eyes—time to use this spell. The sigil of the moon appeared on my forehead, and my appearance started to change. The color of my hair began to turn into a white color, and my eyes glowed. The ancient test began to appear on my skin, and my clothes changed too. Bracers were placed on my arms, and the robe I was wearing changed its color from blue to silver-white. A cold aura started emitting from my body.

"Oh, gather luminous light of the moon, listen to my call! 

Grant thy will and vanquish the evil. Cast your holy light,

vanish the shadows. Listen to me as I am the luminary!"

Everlasting Moon!

A sudden burst of light exploded throughout the forest. The monsters vanished without a trace, and the haze from friends and siblings disappeared. The spell was broken by my attack.

Found you! I shouted. 

I saw a small man, wearing a hood, moving towards the trees. He was wearing the outfit, same as the Heralds of Darkness! I flew towards where he was, but I got knocked back by his lighting spell.

"Who are you?"
