After we had covered about half of the distance we had to stop for gas. We barely pulled off the highway when the motor started to make weird noises. We looked at each other, kind of scared. Just a few seconds after we turned into the parking lot of a gas station, the car went out. Ashley let out a little scream and swerved to a parking spot towards the emptier end of the lot. She tried to start the car again, but it wouldn’t.
“So much for our summer, huh?”, I sighed. Ashley looked at me with a panicked look.
“What do we do now?”, she asked me. I shrugged. How would I know what was wrong with the car? I’m not a mechanic. But I saw that she panicked even more, so I got out of the car and tried to open the hood. But it was burning hot, I couldn’t even touch it long enough to open it. Ashley stared at me at the brink of tears. “My parents just got me this car because I totaled the last one. This can’t be happening!”
I walked up to her. “Take a deep breath, I’ll figure it out”, I told her. But she just yelled at me. “Figure it out? FIGURE IT OU? You’re not a mechanic, we’re in the middle of nowhere and my car won’t start!”
“Shut up!”, I yelled back to snap her out of her breakdown. “Okay, you wait here, try to find a mechanic on your phone and I’ll go over to the gas station to see if they can help us.”
She nodded, a bit calmer. When she started fidgeting with her phone, I took that as a sign that she was well enough so I could leave her alone. I took a deep breath and looked around. Well she wasn’t really wrong. Besides the somewhat busy gas station we were in the middle of nowhere.
Determined to find help I started walking towards the gas station. Since we were parked a few hundred yards away it took me a moment to get there. When I got there, there were only three other people there. One older man was pumping gas, and two truck drivers that apparently had just come in to buy some food and that had their trucks parked at the opposite end of the lot from where Ashley had parked. That place was probably popular with truck drivers as a night stop, but pretty much deserted on the day. I took another deep breath and walked inside. It was a small store with not really fresh-looking food, but the AC was working really well. I almost shivered because it was so much cooler in here than outside. When I walked up to the counter, there was a girl my age playing on her phone there.
“Hi, how are you?”, she said with a fake customer service smile. But that didn’t make me think less of her. When you work in a place so boring that it maybe has five customers an hour, I’m surprised to see that she could pull off a smile at all, even if it seemed fake.
“Hi, I’m in a little trouble, maybe you can help? My friend Ashley and I have about two more hours on the road ahead of us, but her car just broke down and we don’t know what’s wrong.”, I said as nice as I could. She actually seemed to come alive to that, it probably wasn’t the usual thing she heard. “Oh my, I’m sorry, I have no idea of how cars work.”
“Maybe there is a mechanic somewhere around here that could help us?”, I asked. She frowned and seemed to be thinking really hard. “The closest town is ten miles away, but they don’t have a mechanic. The next one is about 30 miles away and probably closed by now.”
I wanted to scream internally at our bad luck. “Do you maybe have his number so I can try calling him?”
She frowned even harder, then went to pull up some papers from behind the counter. “You know what, I’ll call him myself!”, she exclaimed, probably happy there was finally something for her to do. I then watched her carefully enter the number she had found and wait for it while the phone was ringing. After a while it became clear no one would pick, so she hung up the phone. “Sorry, but you’ll have to stay here and wait for him to open tomorrow”, she said with a sorry face. “But we have really good apple pie!”, she then declared happily.
Now I was the one with the fake smile. “Thanks!” But I definitely would not eat anything that has been in here for however long. “But I’ll have to tell my friend first”, I said as an excuse and turned around to leave. She was back playing on her phone again before I was even out of the store. Apparently, I wasn’t interesting enough for her anymore.
Lost in thought I headed back to Ashley. But I had barely taken a few steps when I heard tires screeching and someone yelling. In a split second I looked up, saw a huge red car coming right at me, and got out of its way just in time. What the heck?! It came to a sudden stop a few feet after it passed me.
“Dude, what the hell?”, I yelled towards the car and shook my head. I could hear my pulse banging in my ears. Man, he really almost ran over me. What an asshole!
I immediately came to change my opinion about the driver when he got out of the car. He was tall, shirtless and muscular with blond hair. But I could only barely see his hair, as he was actually wearing a cowboy hat. Where the heck did we end up at? Because if all the guys here look like that, I’m staying.
“Jesus, are you okay?”, he said as he came running towards me. “I swear I didn’t see you until it was too late, I’m so sorry.” He looked so honestly shaken I immediately forgave him. But he didn’t need to know that, as a lightbulb just went on in my head. I dramatically put a hand on my chest and tried to catch some air. “You really scared me!”, I said while gasping loudly. He seemed confused for a second, as I was just yelling at him unfazed. But then his good manners came through. “I’m so sorry, is there anything I can do to help?”, he asked. Exactly what I need. A good-looking cowboy that hopefully knows something about cars.
I slowly got back to breathing normally. “I’m fine, I think. I was really just trying to get help because my friend’s car broke down. You wouldn’t know anything about those, would you?”, I asked while smiling at him shyly. He scratched his head and smiled back. “Hm, well, I’m not a mechanic, but I could take a look at it?” He kind of shrugged and gave me a questioning look. I gave him my brightest smile and nodded excited. He stared at me for a second, confused about how things turned out. Then he nodded. “Okay, where is your friend’s car?” I pointed towards it. Then he invited me into his car to drive me over there with him. I was so glad to get out of the burning sun and humid heat, I didn’t even care that I got into a car with a stranger.
“I’m Cole, by the way”, he said while driving towards Ashley’s black jeep. “I’m Ava, nice to meet you”, I replied like the good girl I was. Then we already reached our destination. I saw Ashley’s eyes get as big as cupcakes as we both got out of the car. She just stared at Cole and his cowboy hat for a second. “Howdy”, she then said, which made me laugh. Then I explained to her, “There is no mechanic in sight”, to which she nodded in agreement and pointed at the phone in her hand. “So, I just ran into Cole and he said he could take a look, even though he is not a mechanic.”, I explained further.
“Oh, you can totally have a look at my –“ Ashley broke off in the middle of her sentence. “Car.”, she then concluded. I could barely hold back my laughter. We really shouldn’t be allowed to leave the house together; all we did was crack bad jokes and try to flirt with random guys.
Cole looked at me in confusion, he obviously didn’t get the joke about him seeing her naked. His innocence was kind of cute. I wondered if it was real or if he was playing us as much as I was playing him.
I cleared my throat. “Anyway, that’s the car that won’t start anymore.” I pointed at it like an i***t, as if it wasn’t the only car in a hundred yard radius. He nodded and went to open the hood. I just got out a “Careful, it’s –“ as he already cursed and pulled back his hand. “Hot”, I finished my sentence with an apologetic look on my face. “Sorry, I should have mentioned that earlier.”
But he just laughed it off and went to get some rag from his car which he used like a baking glove to pop the hood open. While he was taking a look Ashley and I told him about our trip and where we were going, and he told us that his parents had a farm a few miles from here. He just came to get some more gas for whatever machine they used for farming. He was probably younger than he looked, 20 maybe. While he couldn’t see us, we looked at each other. Ashley raised both her eyebrows. “Go get him”, she formed with her mouth. I acted like I gasped in shock and quickly covered my open mouth with my hand. She rolled her eyes and then pointed at me first, then at Cole, then she made some explicit movements with her hands and I had to cover my eyes to keep myself from laughing out loud about her demeanor. I know we planned this summer as a giant party, but hooking up with a random guy on a gas station? Well, to be fair, after last night I couldn’t exactly pride myself on having high standards. But last night was the first guy I hooked up with in months and I really needed that. It wasn’t like that now.
Just when Ashley’s movements were about to get even more explicit, Cole stuck his head out from behind the hood. In an instant she stopped and waved at him. He just stared at her for a second, then turned to me. “As I said, I’m no expert, but I think you’re out of cooling fluid. That’s why the car is so hot”, he explained.
Ashley shook her head. “No, that can’t be it. I just got the car a few weeks ago and they told me they did all those things so I wouldn’t have to take care of it.”
Cole just shrugged. “Maybe you ruptured a pipe or something then. Because you are definitely out of cooling fluid.”
Before Ashley could talk back again, I asked “But that’s good, right? They should have that at the gas station and we can just fill it back up to make it run again?”
He nodded. “Yeah, that should do it. I can take you over there if you want to so you don’t have to walk.”
As I was about to politely decline as he had already done more than enough, Ashley pretty much shoved me into his car. “Bring me a cold drink while you’re at it”, she said with a smile. I just rolled my eyes as an answer.
So, Cole took us back to the gas station, I got the cooling fluid and Ashley’s drink. When he turned on the car again, Cole asked: “Do you want to see where my farm is? If I drive to the end of the parking lot over there you can almost see it in the distance.”
I bit my lip and stared at him while trying to decide what to do. Should I really go for it? What do I have to lose?
I nodded and hoped I made the right decision. When we got to the end of the parking lot, he turned off the car and turned to me with a smile. I thought he was about to kiss me, why else would he bring me to a secluded spot where no one could see us. But he really just showed me his farm in the distance. I couldn’t believe it. For some reason his innocence surprised me. I was pretty much dressed like a slut and he definitely had to pick up on the way Ashley looked at him. And he still didn’t go for it. At first that almost made me cry because he seemed like such a good guy and you rarely find one of those. But it was also kinda turning me on. Maybe the cowboy hat had something to do with that too.
He was talking about his farm, not noticing I was lost in thoughts. He was pretty surprised when I leaned over there to kiss him. It started innocent, but I got more demanding. Now I really wanted him and I could feel he wanted me. He pulled me in closer and I hopped on his lap, rubbing myself against him. We were both panting. Suddenly it was hot in the car despite the AC running on full power. I pressed myself closer to him and kissed him again, pushing his cowboy hat in the back. Then I had to smile. Oh, he definitely wanted me, I could feel him getting hard in his pants. I pulled back for a second to look at him. “Please tell me you have a f*****g condom somewhere in this car”, I said out of breath. He stared at me with panic in his eyes and shook his head. I sighed loudly and stopped moving my hip. I’m not going to make that mistake again.
Then his face lit up. “Wait, this is my brother’s car!”, he said loudly and leaned over to the passenger’s side to look in the glove box. I waited impatiently. He wasn’t the only one that was getting excited for this.
With a triumphant look on his face he pulled a pack of condoms out of the glove box. I sighed in relieve. Two more hours in the car with Ashley after this not happening would not have been nice. I quickly pulled him in for another kiss while moving my hips again. But there was one more thing that was bothering me. “I’m not your first, am I?”, I managed to get out almost on his lips. “No”, he replied out of breath. Now there was no more holding back.
I reached down to open his pants. While he was putting on the condom, I pulled down my own pants including underwear. Then I put my hands on his shoulders and let myself sink down slowly until he was completely in me. I moaned in excitement as he was really big. He also inhaled sharply. Slowly I started to move my hips back and forth, so slow it was almost killing me. But I wanted to enjoy this. He made me lean back a bit over the steering wheel. Lucky us that his car was so big. Then he pulled up my shirt and started massaging my breasts. He leaned in and slowly started to put his lips around the left one, biting me a bit. I moaned loudly and closed my eyes; my entire body was tickling from excitement. After going slow for several minutes, he suddenly pulled back from my breasts. Before I could open my eyes to see why he put his hands on my butt and suddenly pulled me forward, leading to me falling on him. My hands on his bare and muscular chest, I looked up to him. Then he picked up the pace, his hand on my hips making me move faster and faster. I moaned loudly again, and he did the same. I kept yelling his name until I came, not caring about anybody hearing me. He also yelled mine when he came. Then I just kind of sunk down on him, in a state of complete relaxation. For a moment a could hear his heart pounding in his chest and I felt peaceful. Satisfied. That was really good.
Then I slowly lifted myself up and back onto the passenger’s seat, where I put my pants back on. Man, that was good. I could do that every day. I smiled and looked back at him as he struggled with closing his own pants. He just smiled back when he saw me looking at him. Then he drove me back to Ashley’s Jeep. Without mentioning what just happened he helped us fill in the cooling fluid and then he drove off. For a second I was sad he didn’t ask for my number, then I reminded myself of the no strings attached rule.
When I got back in the car after also filling it up with gas and finished to buckle in, Ashley just looked at me. “Not a word about that”, I said. She giggled like a schoolgirl. “Oh, I don’t know what you mean.”
I rolled my eyes and looked out the window, almost giggling too.
“All I gotta say is: My cold drink ain’t cold no more”, she said, and we both burst into laughter as she pulled back onto the highway.
