--- 🌸 Episode 4: Cracks in the Walls 🌸 The campus had been buzzing for days with whispers about Mimi and Rishi. Students couldn’t believe what they were seeing—Rishi, the boy with a mafia family name behind him, the one who was feared and avoided, actually speaking to someone. And not just anyone. To Mimi, the girl who laughed too loudly, teased too boldly, and dared to sit across from him in the canteen like he was any other boy. Most students kept their distance. But for some, it was entertainment. For others, it was dangerous gossip. And for Mimi? It was a game. Or at least, that’s what she told herself. --- ☀️ Morning Mischief The morning was unusually cool, with the faint smell of rain in the air. Mimi walked into college with Siya, swinging her bag on her shoulder. Siya (nervous): “Mimi, I don’t know how you do it. Every time you poke him, you come back alive. Do you know how many people wish they could say half the things you say to him?” Mimi (grinning): “That’s because they don’t know the secret.” Siya (raising an eyebrow): “And what’s the secret?” Mimi (dramatic whisper): “He’s not scary. He’s just… lonely.” Siya sighed. Siya: “You’re going to get in trouble one day. I hope I’m not standing next to you when it happens.” Mimi only laughed. As they entered the corridor, Mimi spotted Rishi leaning against the wall, arms crossed, listening half-heartedly to a group of boys who were clearly trying to impress him. His face was blank, unreadable as always. Mimi’s lips curved. She leaned toward Siya. Mimi: “Watch and learn.” Before Siya could stop her, Mimi marched over. Mimi (loudly): “Good morning, Mr. Mafia Prince!” The corridor fell silent. Every pair of eyes turned toward her. Rishi slowly turned his head, his gaze narrowing on her. The boys around him immediately backed off, muttering excuses, leaving the two of them facing each other. Rishi (flat, dangerous): “What did you just call me?” Mimi batted her eyelashes innocently. Mimi: “Did I say something? Oh, maybe I was talking to someone else. Are you a prince? No? Then maybe you’re just mafia.” A muscle in Rishi’s jaw ticked. Siya, standing far away, covered her face with her hands in horror. But then, something unexpected happened. Rishi let out a quiet laugh. Not a smirk, not a scoff—a real laugh, short and sharp, but genuine. The corridor buzzed with shock. Rishi (low voice): “You’re impossible.” Mimi (cheerfully): “Thank you. I take that as a compliment.” --- 📚 The Classroom Incident Later that day, in the middle of a lecture, Mimi’s phone buzzed. She had forgotten to silence it. Professor Arpita (stern): “Mimi! Phone away immediately!” Mimi hurriedly shoved it into her bag, cheeks pink. The class snickered. From the back, Rishi’s voice drawled, just loud enough for her to hear: Rishi: “Interesting.” Mimi spun around in her seat and mouthed, What?! He leaned forward, his eyes glinting. Rishi (quietly): “First the mafia prince thing, now this. You like attention, don’t you?” Mimi grinned. Mimi (whispering): “Better than sitting like a statue all day.” The exchange went unnoticed by most, but Siya saw it all. She whispered under her breath: Siya: “Oh God, this is going to end in fire.” --- 🍵 A Quiet Corner After class, Mimi went to the canteen again. This time, she found Rishi already there, sitting alone as usual. She walked over, tray in hand, and sat without asking. Mimi: “You know, people are starting to think we’re friends.” Rishi (calmly): “We’re not.” Mimi (pretending to be shocked): “What?! You mean all those smiles and helping me pick up books were lies?” Rishi (raising an eyebrow): “I smiled once.” Mimi (teasing): “And that was enough to make history.” For a while, neither spoke. The silence stretched, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. For the first time, Mimi noticed the faint tiredness in his eyes, like someone who hadn’t slept well in years. She leaned forward. Mimi (softly): “Do you ever get tired of acting scary all the time?” Rishi froze. His expression hardened instantly, as if he’d put a wall back up. Rishi: “Stop asking questions you don’t want the answers to.” Mimi tilted her head. Mimi: “Maybe I do want the answers.” He stared at her for a long moment, then stood up abruptly and walked out. Mimi watched him go, her chest tightening in confusion. For the first time, she felt something heavier than mischief pulling her toward him. --- 🏠 At Home That night, Mimi sat at the dinner table, distracted. Her mother was lecturing her about exams, while her father tried to c***k jokes. Father (teasing): “Mimi, you’ve been staring at your rice for ten minutes. Did it say something romantic to you?” Mimi blinked and laughed nervously. Mimi: “No, Dad. Just… thinking.” Her mother frowned. Mother: “You should be thinking about your studies. Not wasting time on nonsense.” Mimi sighed. She didn’t dare say what was really on her mind. --- 🌙 Rishi’s Struggle Meanwhile, at his mansion, Rishi sat alone in his room. His father’s voice thundered from downstairs, giving orders to men who came and went. Deals were being made, threats carried out, lives being controlled. Rishi stared at his reflection in the mirror. The face that terrified others looked back at him, but for once, he saw the cracks. Mimi’s voice echoed in his head: > “Do you ever get tired of acting scary all the time?” He clenched his fists. Why did her words cut deeper than anything else? --- 🌩️ The Clash The next day, things took a turn. During lunch, Mimi sat with Siya under a tree. Suddenly, a group of boys approached—local bullies who always acted big but avoided Rishi. Boy 1 (mocking): “So this is the girl who thinks she’s brave enough to mess with Rishi?” Mimi (calmly): “Yes. Any problem?” The boys laughed. Boy 2: “Careful, sweetheart. Playing with fire gets you burned.” Before Mimi could answer, Rishi appeared. His presence alone made the boys step back. His eyes blazed with quiet fury. Rishi (low, dangerous): “Leave. Now.” The boys muttered excuses and scattered. Mimi, instead of thanking him, crossed her arms. Mimi: “I could have handled that.” Rishi (snapping): “You don’t understand. They’re not harmless. You can’t just—” Mimi (cutting in): “What? Hide? Stay silent like you do? Sorry, that’s not me.” His jaw tightened. Rishi: “You’ll get yourself hurt one day. And I won’t always be there.” Mimi stepped closer, her voice firm. Mimi: “Then maybe you should stop pretending you don’t care.” For a moment, the air between them was heavy, charged. His eyes burned into hers, and for the first time, Mimi saw something raw—fear. Not of her, but of losing control. Rishi turned abruptly and walked away. --- 🌌 Final Scene of Episode 4 That night, Mimi sat on her balcony, hugging her knees. Siya’s words replayed in her mind: “One day, this will end in fire.” And maybe Siya was right. But something about Rishi’s silence, his eyes, his hidden cracks—it called to her like nothing else ever had. Meanwhile, Rishi stood on his rooftop, staring at the city lights. His father’s men moved like shadows below, carrying out their orders. He whispered into the night, almost against his will: Rishi: “Mimi… stay away from me.” But deep down, he knew she wouldn’t. And maybe… he didn’t want her to. – Episode 4 Ends –
