Light Feet

The club certainly had amazing music playing. Whatever flowing, EDM music it was it got me going. I somehow wound up on the dance floor away from everyone else. I forgot all about Cam, the whole charade and let the wind pull me in every direction.      If the wind was good for anything it was dancing.      The club was tight at this point and whatever dancing I managed was squished between everyone else. I didn't mind though. i loved getting lost both in the music, and the heat of all the bodies around me. My eyes were closed, but I knew I couldn't get carried away.      I felt my blood pumping inside my veins so loud, just like the beats. I never partook in anything other than the occasional drinks, so dancing brought me a strange form of ecstasy.      I did feel hands all around me, not just hands though; hips, arms, shoulders. I was lost in the trance, giving myself to the music.     "I cannot believe you left him back there!" Cam exclaims came out of nowhere breaking my focus.     Still dancing I replied, "maybe you shouldn't have used your energy on us."     "But you guys were so close, I couldn't help myself."     "Cammy, " I giggled, "you know I don't do that," I smacked my lips, "Now where's my drink?"     Knowing me well he already had a fresh drink in hand. At this point we had stepped aside.      "Perfect, now join me my old friend."      "Check that!" he gasped fake offended, "I will have you know I am young in spirit."     "Mhm,:" I took a sip, "how's Eric?"     "I didn't think our conversation would lead to where it has."     "Oh?" I raised my eyebrow.      We found a few empty seats where we could carry our conversation.     "Besides the obvious style sense, he's more witty than he lets on. I believe it's all just a fake front."     "You think we gotta worry?"     He took a pause, "not everyone is out to get you."     I stared at my lap, "I know."     "Listen Swift, Cosmo looked totally harmless. Eric blocks out a lot of different types of energies, so I don't think he's out to get anyone. Honestly, I would be more worried about the people in this place than those two."     "Yeah, but Cam I'm not exactly not known. There aren't a lot families left."     "Define family," he rolled his eyes at me.     I ignored him, "you put on quite the show. Maybe Eric can sense energies too more than block them."     "Okay, we've already discussed this to no end. If you're that interested why don't you go talk to them some more, " he suggested.      I stammered, "I don't think so."     "Then join me on the floor already, " he stood up and offered me his hand.     "Alright let's go back."     I stood up taking his hand, but before he could lead me anywhere I downed my drink so the waves could continue to roll. I put the glass down on the table, and followed him in hand. He still had his drink in hand as we pranced around looking for a spot to continue. We found a well lit nook, where the lights where dancing themselves in all different directions.      There weren't many people to sway together with, but regardless I moved my body to the tunes. Cam was by my side, hips to hips, dancing closely. I always loved dancing together as it strengthened our already deep bond. It was never anything more with him. You could call him my brother, but it was deeper than that. Deeper than family if you can imagine a bond deeper than that. A bond deeper than time itself. That's how much I loved him.      I closed my eyes again for the thousandth time this evening. I let the wind take over me again. Somehow I lost myself in it all, feeling my body with his but also felt as if I was being carried across the dance floor connecting with different energies in this room. Perhaps you can tell by now, I carry the energy of the wind with me, but being here for so long I have learned other crafts too. The most important ones were the golden glows and I wasn't blessed with that ability however I did learn a thing or two. If I truly let myself, I could tell who was who without even opening my eyes. I could feel feelings, emotions, spirits. I usually kept that inside though because it can get super intense.      I stopped my search on the dance floor, when I felt a familiar energy. Suddenly, I was glued to someone on the dance floor. Our bodies were even closer than Cam and I, and I didn't feel his energy nowhere near me. I felt myself halt the dancing, and I ended up pushed against the wall. I dared to open my eyes.     Body to body, I was right underneath Cosmo.     "We meet again," I whispered hoping he heard.     He was looking down at me, "I was hoping we would," he muttered with a smile.      "Well are you gonna dance with me?" I challenged. Our bodies were sweaty, melting together.     He now had me in between his arms, still pinned to the wall. His sweet breath coming in waves at my face. I could tell he had a few drinks from the time I had left him.      He leaned into me, the tip of his nose barely tracing my skin on the side of my face. I couldn't imagine his thoughts, I was sheen with sweat. Maybe he was into that.      We managed to lock eyes, "why I would love to dance with you."     We didn't move an inch though.      I looped my arms around his neck, and I felt the energy shift. I don't think he expected me to do that. We were still close and now I had him in my grasp. He slowly moved his arms down the wall behind me, bringing our bodies even closer. Our heat had me feeling almost dizzy. It has been a while since anyone had captured my attention this way, and I loved it too.      He leaned to whisper in my ear, "perhaps we should dance then?"     Except I didn't want to leave this position. As much as I was a citizen of the world, and I loved calling myself that, I was so touch deprived. At this point he had me yearning for his body.      I licked my lips, "very well then," I said like an i***t.      "The wind itself will dance with me, " he smiled into my hair, " what an honor it would be."     Suddenly, a gust of air separated us and he had taken a step back. His hand was reached, inviting me to join him back on the dance floor.      "I have to warn you though, when I get into it I lose control and I drift all over the place," I said feeling my cheeks flush.     "I'll just have to follow your lead then," he replied with a wide grin.     So we danced the night away. ★ ⋆ ⋆ ★ ★ ⋆ ⋆     I was standing outside breathing the nice cool air in. It helped relax me and bring down the high a little bit. I honestly couldn't remember where the night has left me. I lost track of time, Cam and the drinks I downed. When you tie yourself to the wind as much as you do, things flow differently in your life.      I took out my phone to call Cam and let him know I would like to go home now, not only because it has been a fun night that needed to end but also because I had work tomorrow. I couldn't afford to not come in.      Okay I could, but I didn't like missing work.     I dialed his number, and waited for him to pick up his phone. It rang and rang until it reached his voicemail. With a frustrated grunt, I clicked off and looked around hoping I would spot him in the crowds of people that were leaving. and also just walking about the city... to no avail.      "Looking for someone?"     I turned to where the voice called from.     "Cosmo."     He took a few steps towards me, hands in pockets, " you put on quite the show for everyone."     I panicked, "but of course I had to make a fool out of myself."     "Are you kidding me? You were amazing. The way you flow on the dance floor, " he paused seemingly mesmerized, "well it's something I would pay money for."     I scoffed at his remark.     I could see his face paled, "no! Not like that. Never like that. I mean only if-" he was tumbling over his words.     "Alright, alright nice save."     He let out a sigh, "heading out?"     "Yeah I've got work tomorrow, " I laughed.      "So do I."     Intrigued I replied, "what do you do?"     "I'm a clerk at Lincoln's Law Firm, here in town."     "That sounds quite fancy, if you ask me."     "Impressed much?"     I laughed, "very much so."     "What do you do?" he c****d his head, "does the wind ever have to do anything?"     "I'm the payroll manager at the office for the insurance company downtown."     "And you're calling me fancy over here! Look at you."     I looked up at the sky, "I do what I do."     "Let me take you out sometime," Cosmo asked.      I broke the my line of sight with the sky, "Cosmo."     "What?" he responded to my poor answer.      "I don't, " I couldn't finish.      "Come on Swift. You and I flow in the same world."     "I just-"     Exhale     I had to leave. I couldn't stand there, stammer and attempt to explain to him what went on in my mind. Plus, just because we belonged in the same world didn't mean we had to - didn't mean I had, or owed him anything.     I found myself just walking through the city. It was late at this point, probably two in the morning. I would have to call Cam in the morning, and explain my disappearance. Though to be fair, he wasn't picking up his phone anyway so I reserved the right to bounce. I'll just wait for him to text, or call me.      By the time I reached my home, I had sobered up and had a clear enough mind to make it inside. The three floors I had to climb seemed like a mountain at this hour, so I bared myself and somehow made it up the stairs. On the last step, I was breathing hard. What a joke! The wind itself - I shook my head at myself.     I stuck my key inside, and opened up my house. I took off my shoes, and realized something was off. My jacket!  I texted Cam     yo u got my jacket? I knew I probably wouldn't get a reply soon     where r u?  That was a quick response      I made it home too much to drink I turned the screen off and set down my phone so I could go lay down. I plopped down on the couch, let out a breath of exhaustion, and laid my arm across my head. What a freaking night it was.  ⋆     ⋆ ⋆     ⋆ ⋆      I'm stumbling around the forest floor, tripping over nothing, bloody hands, mud caked all over, sweat dripping down my face, tears making trails in the dirt covering my face. I couldn't remember anything, I was hyperventilating trying to find my place. My eyes were wide open, no other expression. They told me to exhale, exhale, exhale.      My breath was stuck in my throat, it couldn't escape, I couldn't escape. I couldn't run, walk, fly - nobody can fly?     I fall down, the moss engulfing my body. I reach out to the light, but nothing can pull me out. I feel my skin falling off, melting off, withering away. I was under the dirt, bones digging into the earth around me. I couldn't escape. I wouldn't escape. I wouldn't breathe. Worms, worms and beetles, millipedes, ashes.  "Mother!" I shot up on the couch, hair sticking to my face, "mother," I whispered to myself falling back down, tears overflowing my now blurry vision.  Mother.
