Prologue

Life has a strange way of turning on its head when you least expect it. One moment, Lucas was just another guy trying to make a quick buck by signing up for a virtual reality game test. Nothing serious, nothing grand—just an easy side hustle. Who would have thought that this little decision would be the end of Lucas? The last thing he remembered was the burning sting tearing through his body, the acrid smell of cooked flesh filling his nose. Electrocution. Lucas body had given out, and consciousness slipped away before he even realized what was happening. When he finally opened his eyes again, He wasn’t hisself anymore. Lucas had woken up in a new body with name Alex Grill, in a place far removed from the world he knew. Was this reincarnation? Possession? A glitch in reality itself? He couldn’t say for certain. But one fact quickly became clear: the class he had chosen back in the VR game—‘Necromancer’—had somehow followed him into this new existence. And that was a massive problem. This wasn’t some fantasy playground with respawns and reset buttons. No, this was a real world steeped in strict faith, ruled by the Holy Emperor, where necromancy was nothing short of heresy. To make matters even more absurd, the body he now inhabited belonged to none other than the Holy Emperor’s grandson. So here he was: a gamer turned necromancer, in the heart of a theocracy that would burn him alive if they discovered the truth. “…I’m screwed.” “...I’m f*cked.”
