They restrict my access to other forms of technology, leaving me reliant on Tommy, who’s programmed strictly for medical assistance. The regenerative medicine pods, advanced as they are, feel more like cold, mechanical contraptions than sources of hope. Tommy watches me as I stare out the window, his sensors probably picking up on my frustration. “Would you like to hear a story from Earth today?” he asks, his voice calm and soothing as always. I shake my head, unable to bear the contrast between the idealized stories of Earth and my reality. Hearing about it only makes the ache worse. wonder how long it will take before they say I’m ready—ready to leave Mars and explore the worlds beyond. It feels like everyone else has already moved on, exploring moons and distant planets, places I’ve only read about. But I’m stuck here, waiting for my body to catch up with my mind's hunger for adventure. One day," I mutter to Tommy, half to myself. "One day, we’ll get there." He doesn't reply, but I see his eyes flicker, almost like he understands. Maybe he does. Or maybe it's just my wishful thinking. For now, I’ll keep recovering. But I can't help the growing thought that I'm missing out on a universe that’s finally within reach.
