A week had passed, since coronation and everyone was getting antsy. The usual progression was easier; by the second day someone was usually chosen. The honeymoon would have started in that society’s brooding home. Dowry would have been paid. 

But not in this case, Estara Wasn’t ready to make decisions so hastily and she spent much of the last week, pacing back-and-forth with April chasing her, weighting pros and cons, who will be her new boo and (tugging at her collar) and get this scratchy bullshit off!

Breakfast was larger then normal as all the families and candidates were still there as none of them could leave until someone was chosen. Estara took her fork and clanked her glass to let everyone know she wanted the attention. “I ask for everyone to hear me, once all of us have finished i wish to speak with MY candidates”. All of them just stopped and stared awkwardly at each other. Idrealle gulped, Hazen rolled his eyes, and Bianca shrugged her shoulders.

Estara finished eating and when she got up all eyes were on her. “I will wait one hour, if you are not there, i will send you home immediately, so please come quickly! The drawing room is where i will be!” 

One by one the candidates all showed up, Hazen last and almost late. they all sat in silence. Estara cleared her throat and spoke. “Over a week ago i met you all for the first time and let me tell you i am intrigued. You all have qualities that make my inside quiver, the mystery of it all!” this caught them all off guard. the first to respond was Bianca “so have you made a decision then, because if so, why are we all still here?” Estara stopped her pacing “kind of! but i want you all to be part of the decision making “Hazen was becoming more and more inpatient. “Just get on with it Estara “Hazen pleaded. 

Estara blurted her thoughts “i don’t want one of you! I want all of you”. All the candidates were taken back, this went against everything they had all been taught since childhood, all traditions, all family lines, everything! 

Idrealle was the first to speak sheepishly “um does that mean you would partner with all of us? Does that mean we date each other as well? “Estara was amused at the question. “Well, that is what we would figure out together. I wish to respect everyone's boundaries and preferences, which is why i wanted to tell you all at once “The air was thick and Estara wondered if she scared them, or they were still thinking of the proposition. 

Hazen spoke “as much as i don’t agree with old tradition. I also don’t agree with the constructs of gender of myself or that of my partner, so if there is a connection, that is fine with me “next was the skyire “well i have always wanted to have an emotional connection to my partner not a one-night stand, i want to build with my person, unlike my parents and species. And the last was Idrealle who made his point simple and clear. “Estara, I have always enjoyed the company of both genders.” looking a little shy at the comment, Estara walked over and kissed him on the forehead, “you are safe here nothing to be embarrassed about.” 

As the tension lifted from the room, Estara knew she still needed to confront her family and theirs but felt better about doing it now knowing that she had them to back her.” so we are all agreeing that moving forward together is best. I want to know you all on a personal level, but all together as well. time to tell everyone my decision now. be forewarned this will not go well for some of our families. 

“Understood” they all spoke in unison. Everyone got up and headed for the door. Leaving the drawing room and meeting everyone in the foyer, “all families i need your attention, I have something to say, listen closely and before anyone makes an asinine comment, my decision is final! I have made my choice … I choose all three!” The room turned cold, and the parents all looked like they had their lives flashing in front of their eyes. April was listening behind a near pillar and snickered, and Estara mother fainted. 

The night had passed and Estaras mother had finally started to recover. when her father came into sight, and the afternoon was cooling in the chill. “Estara come here right now! we need to talk!”. Estara gets up from her wolf’s lap and walk over to her father. “Yes father, what is the problem!” Estara smugly smirked at her father “Girl you got some nerve! you need to reconsider now and only choose one “. Estara looked her father right in the face “NO!” and she turned to walk away. her father grabbed her arm and smacked her straight across the face. Hazen jumps up with a harsh growl at the king. Bianca places her hand on the wolf’s chest to stop him, and Idrealle gets balls “I ask you don’t touch her again your highness, there is no need for that behavior we all agreed to this endeavor!” All the candidates were confused this woman had lit fires in them they didn’t know was there. The king was startled, looked back at Estara who had a large smirk on her face as she held her red scorn cheek “so father you were saying “the king defeated in his attempt for resolution of tradition, failed and turned and walked away.

 “Well, if that wasn’t a rebellion of the patriarchy, I don’t know what is and I think this calls for celebration!” The Princess rallied to her partners. Estara grabbed Hazen’s and Idrealle s hands and wrapped Bianca tail around her waist and escorted them all her chambers. April watched as they walked by, “April fetch me some fruit and wine, join us in the bedroom once you have grabbed everything “. April hurried to the kitchen; she felt a warmth grow inside her.

Estara escorted her partners in the chamber.
