"Vivian!"
Emily's voice trembled as she stood frozen at the bedroom door.
Her eyes widened in disbelief.
Daniel and Vivian were lying together on the bed.
For a moment, Emily thought she was dreaming.
No.
This couldn't be real.
The bouquet of flowers in her hand slipped to the floor.
"Emily..." Vivian quickly sat up. "I can explain."
"Explain?" Emily laughed bitterly. "Explain what exactly? Explain why you're in bed with my husband?"
Silence filled the room.
Daniel slowly got out of bed and adjusted his shirt.
His expression remained cold.
The sight shattered Emily's heart.
Three years.
Three years of marriage.
Three years of loyalty.
And this was how it ended?
"Daniel..." Her voice cracked. "Tell me this isn't true."
Daniel looked at her for a long moment before speaking.
"It's true."
Emily felt as if someone had stabbed a knife into her chest.
"I wanted to tell you sooner."
"Tell me what?"
Daniel took a deep breath.
"I want a divorce."
The words hit harder than any slap.
Emily stared at him.
"What?"
"I can't continue this marriage." Her hands trembled.
"Why?" Daniel's gaze hardened.
"Because I need an heir, Emily. A tear rolled down her cheek.
"What does that have to do with us?"
"Everything." His voice was merciless.
"You've been unable to give me a child.Emily took a step backward.
She couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"Vivian is pregnant. The room spun.
Emily slowly turned toward her best friend. Vivian lowered her head.
One hand rested protectively on her stomach.
Emily's heart stopped.
"No..."
"She's carrying my child," Daniel said coldly.
The last piece of Emily's world shattered.
"You betrayed me..." she whispered.
Neither of them denied it.
A painful laugh escaped her lips.
"My husband and my best friend."
Tears streamed down her face.
"What a perfect match."
Suddenly, rage overwhelmed her.
She walked toward Vivian and slapped her.
The sharp sound echoed through the room.
"This is for betraying me!"
Another slap followed.
"And this is for stealing my husband!"
"Emily!" Daniel grabbed her wrist.
His face darkened.
"Have you gone crazy?"
Emily stared at him. Then she laughed.
A broken, heartbreaking laugh.
"Crazy?" Her eyes turned red.
"You destroy my marriage, sleep with my best friend, get her pregnant, and I'm the crazy one?"
Daniel released her hand.
His expression remained cold.
"I've already prepared the divorce papers."
Emily froze.
"What?"
"They're in my study."
For a moment, she couldn't breathe.
He had planned everything.
While she was still loving him.
While she was still believing in their marriage.
He had already decided to throw her away.
Just like that.
"I see."
She wiped away her tears.
When she looked up again, her eyes were filled with disappointment rather than pain.
"You know what hurts the most, Daniel?"
He remained silent.
"It's not a betrayal."
Her voice trembled.
"It's realizing that the man I loved never existed."
Daniel's jaw tightened.
Emily picked up the flowers she had brought for him.
Then she dropped them into the trash bin beside the door.
Just like he had thrown away their marriage.
Without another word, she turned and walked away.
This time, she didn't look back.
Emily sat at the coffee shop, feeling pain and grief. She couldn’t sit any longer, so she stood up and left.
While walking on the sidewalk, she suddenly fainted.
A man in a black suit with a bold tie and expensive shoes saw her.
“Stop the car!” he shouted to his driver.
He jumped out and ran to her.
“Open your eyes!” he panicked.
“Get me water, hurry!” he ordered. He sprinkled water on her face.
Emily gasped and stood up.
“Take it easy. You’re not feeling well. Calm down, I won’t hurt you,” he said gently.
“Where do you live? I can take you home,” he asked.
“That question can’t be answered,” she said.
“I can help if you need anything. I’m Jackson Steel, CEO of Steel Tech Global Industry,” he explained.
Emily ignored him and walked away angrily. He got in his car and drove off.
A few days later, Sebastian Steel, Jackson’s father, returned from abroad. His cold, bold face could scare anyone.
He entered the Steel mansion and sat down, holding his staff.
“Jackson!” his father called.
“Welcome, Dad,” Jackson said.
“What is there to greet? I won’t talk to you until you fulfill my wish,” his father said.
“Can’t you see I’m getting old? I want a grandchild to inherit the family wealth and continue the family line,” he said coldly.
“I will get married, Dad. Just give me some time,” Jackson reassured him.
Mr. Sebastian stayed silent.
The next morning, Emily went to Daniel’s mansion. She handed him the divorce papers.
“I have sign this to complete the divorce. Don’t worry, I won’t take any of your property,” she said firmly.
Vivian sat nearby, watching. “Thank God she won’t take anything,” she said.
Daniel took the pen and signed, but he felt bad.
Tears ran down Emily’s face as she left.
“No, Emily, don’t cry because of him,” she whispered to herself, wiping her tears.
On her way to the hospital to see Dr. Elise, she didn’t watch where she was going and bumped into a tall, handsome man.
“Sorry! Sorry…” she said.
Jackson looked at her. “I’ve seen this lady before,” he thought, then walked away.
“Dr. Elise, I need treatment. My heart hurts. Do you have medicine?” she asked.
“Uh… yes, I have, then paused. But what do you mean?” Dr. Elise asked.
“Everyone I trusted has broken my heart and trust, they betrayed me. Just look at me,” Emily sobbed.
“You mean your husband broke your heart?” Dr. Elise asked.
“Not only that, he also betrayed me with my best friend,” Emily cried.
“I’m sorry. I’m here for you. But did you do anything wrong to him? i mean he has been a good husband to you,” Dr. Elise said kindly.
“We’re have been in good terms as husband and wife, not until my friend came into the picture,” she explained.
“Please, can I stay with you until I find a job and my own place?” Emily asked.
“I don’t mind. I consider you my daughter,” Dr. Elise said.
The next day, Emily went for a job interview.
She entered the office without knocking and froze, seeing someone there she never expected…immediately
