Xavier Stepping into the bar was surreal. It felt as new as he could remember. The last time Xavier visited a bar was years ago when his freedom was coarse. The music buzzing from every corner was pounding in his head. Still, he needed time away from his now messy lifestyle with no way ahead. Trying to prove someone powerful and way higher than you wrong can be one hell of a thing to do but it was something that he needed to get done. He walked forward, deeper into the bar, squinting his eyes at the flashing light. He came to an abrupt stop at a counter and yelled at the top of his voice. “Two shots of tequila,” deep down, he knew this might be a mistake but he still wanted something quite hard. The bartender slid the shots in front of him and before a swift second went by, he downed it all. “Whoa!” he said, shaking his head as if trying to reduce the potency of the shots. “Yeahh!” he screamed again, standing and moving to the rhythm. Xavier wobbled in an attempt to dance but ended up bumping into a tipsy young man who seems to be having everything go wrong for him. “Yo! Watch where you’re going, man!” he said with all seriousness without a glint of a smile on his hardened face. “Have fun and move along, young man!” Xavier said, hitting the young man’s chest lightly before turning away from him to continue his fun. The other guy took it the wrong way by pushing Xavier. Xavier stumbled to this effect. He could feel the liquor in his system push into his skin, burning his throat as an angry roar erupted from his throat. He turned around and landed a punch on the other guy’s face. He staggered and then fell on his butt. This angered him. He stood up and pounced on Xavier who was trying to recover from the hard punch. The other guy had the upper hand now as he sat above Xavier, with people cheering and yelling, he felt his bones flaring and his eyes reddened from anger. He gave Xavier repeated punches and though Xavier tried to dodge his punches, he still felt some on his face. Xavier rolled him over and now, he was sitting above him. He punched his face, landing a heavy blow on the bridge of his nose continuously without stopping. Xavier pulled the collar of his shirt so that they were both standing now. He pushed him against a wall with the other guy’s back colliding harshly against the wall. Both breathing heavily, Xavier wobbled forward, rubbing his busted lower lip with his thumb. As he got closer to him and was going to land a blow on his face again, the guy summoned his inner strength and kicked Xavier in his balls. “f**k!” Xavier groaned as his reflect action was to crouch. Before he could limp forward to retaliate, he felt a heavy hand holding him back, pulling him away from the scene. Just as he was going to manage to fight back, despite the pain, he was thrown out of the bar. However, the mixture of pain and drunkenness overpowered him. He shut his eyes with his hands buried between his thighs. He groaned out in pain on the bare floor. “Are you okay?” he thought he had just heard wrong. Clutching to his dear life that was lingering before his eyes, he decided to play the voice as part of his nightmare. “Are you okay?” he heard the feminine voice again. This time, he flinched at the suddenness of her tender hands which caused him to slowly open his eyes. Xavier’s sight was blurry. He could barely see anything even though the light was shining on them. He raised his face to stare at her but he could not make out who it was. The blood from his nose had dripped into his eyes. “Oh my God!” she exclaimed as she could see his face much more clearly now. He has been beaten beyond recognition. “Should I call the ambulance? Or, hold on, let me get help,” the lady worriedly said but as she was about to get her phone and stand on her feet, he finally let his hand off his balls and held her back by the wrist. “I do not need help neither do I need the hospital, I just wanna…” he coughed out a clumpy form of blood before he continued. “I just wanna be home,” She had just stepped out from the bar to get fresh air and puff her smoke. She just wanted some time away from the clumsy space and the tricky looks. The night was not good either for her but helping a stranger home was none of her plans. “How do you get home?” she asked with worry still laced in her tone. She tried to help him up but he could hardly stand on his feet. She was getting frustrated but still worried. “I just want to…get home,” Xavier repeated but this time, his strength seems to be fading away. “I need to know your address or something!” Xavier slowly turned his face to look at her. With what was left of his main senses, he spoke, narrating his address to her. After several attempts, she finally helped him up to his feet. She had planned to take him home herself but her business at the bar had not ended yet so she only explained it all to the driver. “I hope you get home safe,” she said to Xavier, patting his shoulder lightly. Xavier sat up a bit and dipped his hand in his pocket. He brought out his card and gave it to her. “I would pay back for your kindness,” Xavier said and the lady smiled, taking the card from him. She shut the car door and in a few seconds, the driver zoomed off. At that moment, as the car drove off, a pang of pity filled her and she truly hopes he gets home safely. “Coco!” she looked back and a frown formed on her face. “I told you not to call me that!” she said angrily. “Well, your love seeks you,” she scoffed at her before leaving. She looked back in the direction of the car that was long gone. “Did he even have fun before he got hurt?” she asked herself before rubbing her arms to keep warm and then rushing back inside the bar.
