Chapter Thirty-Eight: Storm

I helped her to her room and lead her to the bathroom. While she was doing her business I sat on her bed and text Tristan to bring me some more clothes so I could stay with her for a while longer. At least until she gets tired of me and kicks me out. When the bathroom door opened I was going to help her to the bed, but her room door opened and the girl I don’t know walked in with food. She hurried to put the food down and rushed to give Crisa a hug and Xander walked over and joined the hug. I watched from the side of the room like the outsider that I am. I noticed that Zanthus waited patiently for the trio to part and gently embraced her like a father would his daughter.     When she started crying I wanted to rush over and scoop her into my arms. Zanthus gently wiped her tears and they started speaking to each other in a language that I didn’t know. When they were done he kissed her head and the three of them left. I walked up behind her and gently put my arm around her to lead her over to the bed. I brought the food to her and turned to leave, but she grabbed my hand to stop me. Before she could say anything I said, “I will be right back. I need to go grab your prescriptions from Tyler and grab my clothes from Tristan. Plus they only brought enough food for you.” She reluctantly let go of my hand and turned her concentration to her food. I kissed her forehead before I left the room and I rushed down the hall to get everything so I could get back to her.      When I got to the living room Tyler gave me the prescriptions and said his goodbyes also saying he would come back in the morning. Tristan gave me my clothes and filled me in in what I missed. We also scheduled a video meeting for tomorrow and I was really lucky that he brought my laptop so I could get some work done. Next up was Thane letting me know that he was heading home for the night and that the fridge was stocked with anything we might need. I stopped in one of the guest rooms to shower and change really quick before rushing back to Crisa’s room to find her fast asleep. I quietly turned off the light and climbed in the bed next to her.        I just laid there for awhile watching her sleep peacefully. As I watched her I couldn’t help wondering why she tried to stop me from leaving the room, but then I remembered that the first time she was hurt I helped her to this very room before disappearing for 3 months. Was she worried that I would do the same thing this time? I was pretty stupid back then trying to run from my unknown feelings for her. I can’t wait for her to wake up so we can talk about everything and settle things so we can move forward with this relationship. I must have been more tired than I thought as I fell into a deep sleep.
