Chapter Sixty-Seven: Crisa

He started to say something to me when we all noticed the owner walk up to the table. The manager greeted me in friendly manner letting me know that he wasn’t expecting me until tomorrow which shocked the manager and waitress. I returned his greeting before saying, “ I wasn’t planning on coming here today, but the closest and best variety of food happens to be here. I just wanted to get a peaceful lunch with Storm while he’s on lunch, but the waitress here kept trying to flirt and get his attention going so far as to pull her shirt lower to flaunt what she doesn’t have. I had her get me the manager who walked over to my table with the mentality that his s**t don’t stink. Now I know that we weren’t going to do anything until tomorrow, but can we do it today because those two need to lose their jobs.”
He was in shock by what he heard and from what I know of him he wouldn’t tolerate that behavior from his employees. He quickly said, “yes we can I just finished getting everything printed up for tomorrow and the only customers here now are getting ready to leave so we can just close up to have the meeting now. I’ll be right back with everything.” Just as he went to walk away another waitress walked over with our food because she noticed our waitress wasn’t paying attention to it. I didn’t even care about the fact I was about to be in a business meeting in less than five minutes. Once that food was in front of me I started eating. When the owner came with the other employees and saw me eating he hesitated for a moment, but I motioned for him to continue.
He had the employees sit at the tables in front of mine before he started saying, “as many of you know I have been having financial difficulties and was going to have to look at closing the diner. Thanks to Crisa here the diner will be able to stay open and you will get to keep your jobs if you would like to stay. I will be staying to run the diner in her absence and there will be some changes. First I want to hand out your last checks under my ownership. This check is through the end of the week and at the beginning of next week everyone will be getting raises. Waitresses you will be bumped to $10 an hour plus your tips while all kitchen staff will be bumped to $20 an hour. We will also be going to a 24 hour operating time so we will be looking to hire more people. Also you two are fired and this is your last check you may leave now.” When he told the waitress and manager that they were fired all the other employees started cheering. Looks like they were happy with all the changes that were coming.
When the meeting ended everyone came up to me to shake my hand and thank me. Storm ended up paying the bill before we made our way back to the shop. I ended up trading vehicles with him so I could go by the store to get some groceries and the test I needed to see if my theory was correct. I quickly grabbed everything I needed and headed home so I could take the tests before anyone got home. I put everything up quickly when I got home and ran to my bathroom locking the door. I purchased four different tests so I read all of the instructions before taking them as it said and waited for them to be ready ready. After three minutes I looked at the tests to see that they all showed a positive result. I sank to the floor in a daze. How was I going to tell Storm? Would he accept it or would he be upset? I don’t know how long I was sitting there before my phone started ringing. When I looked at the screen I saw that it was Stormy and when I saw the time I realized that I was late picking her up. I jumped up and rushed out the door to go pick her up. I made one mistake leaving in a rush like that I didn’t clean up the tests.
