Chapter Seventy: Crisa

677 Words
While I was getting ready for the day I was making an appointment to confirm the pregnancy. I went with my usual doctor that is just a bit out of town because I knew she was good and I also knew that it didn’t matter if she had a full schedule today she would make the time to see me. Luckily for me she wasn’t busy today and she had an opening at noon today. I quickly finished getting ready and went to make sure Stormy was up and getting ready for school. To my surprise she was already walking out of her room fully dressed with her backpack over her shoulder. She is usually still in bed not wanting to get up so something must be going on that she is up already. Maybe she will tell me when I drop her off at school.       Walking into the kitchen the smell of Nutella pancakes hit me and my stomach started growling. Storm really went overboard with the pancakes and the fruit. There was no way we would finish all of the food he made. As if summoned Thane and Thalia walked through the door with more food. It looked like they brought my favorite breakfast burritos, but I didn’t stick around to find out because one of the smells coming out of the bag had my stomach churning and me running to the closest bathroom. I heard Storm tell someone to finish up the pancakes before he was hot on my heels. I barely made it to the toilet before I emptied the contents of my stomach while Storm held my hair back and rubbed circles on my back.        We sat there for a couple of minutes to make sure I was done before we got up and I cleaned myself up. Storm wrapped me up in a hug and kissed my forehead before we returned to the kitchen. Luckily whatever the smell made me sick was gone and everyone was at the table eating. The messed up part was that Tyler and Chris showed up while I was in the bathroom so there was only five pancakes left. At this point I didn’t even want them anymore and I really didn’t want to be around them because I was going to lose my cool so I told Stormy that I would be in the car waiting for her. I turned around and gave Storm a kiss telling him that I would see him at work and walked out the door after grabbing my bag from the side table. I only had to wait a couple of minutes before Stormy came out to the car and informed me that her father let everyone have it as soon as the door was closed.       After dropping Stormy off at school I made my way to the diner to grab some food and conduct interviews for the overnight employees. About two hours into the interviews I took a break and was approached by one of the cooks requesting to be moved to nights so that he and his wife no longer had to miss work due to not having child care. I agreed to let him move to nights and made a note to look into providing daycare for all employees in this town so nobody would have to worry about whether they had childcare or would have to miss work because they didn’t. The second round of interviews went just as smoothly as the first with quite a few people from the MC coming in for an interview. Four hours and I had enough staff hired that the diner would be fully staffed at all times even in the event of someone calling out. I glanced at my watch and realized that if I didn’t move now I would be late for my appointment considering I still had to pick Storm up. He still didn’t know about the appointment because I left in a hurry this morning, but I knew that he would make the time to go.
