I really didn’t want to go to school today. I’ve heard talk about the school’s bullies not liking me and wanting to jump me. I had been taking precautions to try and avoid it, but that could only last for so long. I had a bad feeling that today would be the day my luck would run out and I was right. My art teacher sent me to go grab something from another teacher and before I could make it to my destination I was pushed into an empty classroom. As soon as the door closed they started hitting me and I started trying to block the blows. A teacher passing by must have heard the noise and decided to investigate. He broke up the fight and sent me to the principals office.
I was scared when they called Crisa to the school, but I was glad that they didn’t call my dad. I just sat there quietly while the principal was threatening me and trying to make me confess. I almost jumped out of my skin when I heard Crisa say, “who the hell are you to be questioning my child without a parent present? Not only are you questioning her without me here, but I walk in to find you threatening her. Where are the other kids and their parents or are you just singling my child out? Now I’m going to give you ten minutes to do three things and you will do them all or I will have your job. First thing you are going to do is apologize to my daughter. Second you are going to get all parties involved in this office. Lastly you will get there parents in this office as well. Time starts now!”
To my surprise he did exactly as she said. I just continued to sit quietly and when the others walked in I tried my best to control my fear, but I knew that Crisa would notice me shaking. She stood there listening to everyone accusing me of starting the fight and I was terrified she would try to give me back to my mom. I could see her texting someone, but I couldn’t tell what she was thinking. Although once she was done texting she looked around the room before saying, “so your kids are just like you huh. That’s a shame because we don’t need anymore of you two in the world. I can guess that those two started the fight thinking that they wouldn’t get caught. All three are somehow involved so all three can walk out suspended the rest of the week and back to school on Monday. By then I expect you to do your job and review the camera’s to find out who started it.”
My dad walked through the door when she finished speaking. He didn’t acknowledge anyone in the room. He looked her over making sure she was okay before looking me over to make sure I was okay. The principal must have been scared of my dad because he became a stuttering mess and agreed with Crisa’s directive. The bullies parents didn’t like this and made a move towards Crisa, but my dad stepped in front of her blocking them from getting to her. The door opened once again and one of my dad’s guys came in and stood in front of me for protection. Once they had everything under control Crisa pulled me out the door and walked me to the car.
Once we pulled out of the school gates I started sobbing. I told Crisa everything on the way home and she sat there silently listening to me. She reassured me that she would never send me back to my mother and that she would make sure that I wouldn’t have to worry about the bullies anymore. When we got back to the house she took me down to her gym and started showing me how to throw punches and block. We practiced for an hour before going upstairs to make some lunch since neither of us had ate yet. As she cooked our lunch she told me that she would have Chris and Tyler work with me to show me more self defense moves. I nodded enthusiastically knowing that if this ever happened again then I would at least be able to defend myself. We ate our lunch quietly before Crisa went off to take a nap and I went down to my studio.
