Chapter Thirty-One: Thane

567 Words
I was glad that Storm took control of the situation because I was freaking out. The five minute drive felt like it took forever before Tristan pulled into the driveway of a house with what looked to be a doctor standing outside. Storm laid Crisa’s head in my lap while he jumped out of the truck and turned around to pick her up. He didn’t wait for anyone as he took long purposeful steps into the house. We all jumped down and ran after him not wanting to miss anything.      The doctor rushed Storm to put her on the bed so she could get started. She wasted no time kicking us all out and getting to work with her nurses help. I didn’t know who this doctor was, but it looked like Storm trusted her so I would trust his decision. Thirty minutes into the wait I sent Chris and Tyler to go find out how the clean up was going and to pick up Thalia. I could hear Storm pacing the room while I just sat with my head in my hands. I hated waiting for news and the fact that Crisa was in this situation again hurt me.       I’m her older brother and I should be protecting her, but I failed once again. When we heard a door open we both turned towards the door expecting news only to find Zanthus, Xander and Nikita coming into the room. Luckily the doctor came out of the room right after they showed up so we would finally get some news. The doctor told us that she had lost a lot of blood due to a large gash in her side and she was able to stitch it up while making sure there wasn’t any other internal damage, but due to the blood loss she didn’t know when Crisa would be waking up. There was a bed set up in Crisa’s room so one of us could stay in there with her and The doctor setup some beds in other rooms for everyone that wanted to stay. Storm and I decided to take turns sleeping and sitting next to Crisa waiting for her to wake up. I wanted to sit with her first so Storm went and laid down trying to get some sleep. I sat down and grabbed her hand. All I could do is say sorry and blame myself.      The logical part of myself knew that it wasn’t my fault and that I wouldn’t have been able to stop it from happening, but I still blamed myself. I looked over at Storm and knew he probably blamed himself as well. He had her away from the danger, but allowed her to come back. I couldn’t even blame him because Crisa was stubborn and if she wanted to do something she was going to do it with or without help. As I looked at Storm laying on the other side of the room I leaned into Crisa’s ear and said, “I think Storm is good for you. You both need to stop being stubborn and admit that you love each other. He’s the one that brought you here and wouldn’t let any one else carry you. If you guys don’t give it a shot I’m going to kick both of your asses. So hurry up and wake up for us. Everyone is here and waiting.”
